After the close of polls last night (Thursday, May 7), Hollington councillor Danuta Kean announced her decision to leave the Labour Party group on Hastings Borough Council and become an independent.
Cllr Kean, a secondary school teacher, said her decision had been prompted by the party’s national platform, describing the government as one which has “consistently punched down on the poorest and most vulnerable in our society”. |

Ben Rowe – Ham, Plymouth (suspended)
Elected with 1,649 votes. Rowe was suspended by Reform within days of his election, after posts on Facebook allegedly fantasised about impaling Muslims, accused “the Jews” of “creating division by forcing other races on our societies” (via The Times), described immigrants as “breeding like rats” and shared blackface memes. Just more anti-semitism. Sorry, hurty words. |

A former Reform UK council leader has been suspended by her party, it has been confirmed.
Jo Monk, who previously led Worcestershire County Council, has been suspended for "refusing to accept the democratic decision of the Reform UK group". Fellow councillors removed her as group leader last month, replacing her with former Conservative MP Alan Amos. Her son and fellow councillor, Ashley, has also been suspended for reportedly bringing the party into disrepute. Ms Monk told the BBC she would not comment until Thursday's council meeting. When Jo Monk lost a vote among the party's councillors in April, her successor said he wanted to "be the first to thank Jo Monk for the hard work she's done", adding that they had "inherited a mess from the Conservatives". A row erupted after the election, with Ashley Monk criticising the decision and the new leader on social media. The ex-leader's time in office was marked by controversy, with council tax going up 9% and the authority needing £59.9m in emergency government help to avoid effective bankruptcy. She is still formally leader of the county council itself, despite being kicked out as group leader. |

No sign he's leaving yet, but one to watch. Well maybe not one to actually watch.
Stephen Mousdell, a newly elected councillor for Haydock in St Helens, features in an extensive catalogue of g** p*** videos under the alias “LachlanTaylorUK”, with videos online appearing to show him engaging in s** acts - seemingly in public. One video shows him wearing a grey baseball cap, with his trousers down and another man performing o*** s** on him, while Cllr Mousdell keeps watch by looking over his shoulder. Cllr Mousdell was elected last week as a councillor in the Haydock Ward winning 1,331 votes as Reform romped to victory. Nigel Farage’s party won 34 of the 48 seats available, having previously had no representation whatsoever. A Reform UK spokesman told LBC: “While Cllr Mousdell’s lifestyle choices may not be to everyone’s taste, he has not broken the law. What consenting adults do in their private lives is their own business. |

By:
Resignations, defections, etc, I think the rumoured loss today takes them to 48, but
news seems a bit sketchy. Last one confirmed was 5 days ago, with councillor apparently leaving area, Council website still has them on 49 |
