No 50 is difficult it seems - one hit wonders, top five hit in mid 90s, from the other side of the world. Was played a heck of a lot at the time.
Don't think i would have got that one Aspro No 50 is difficult it seems - one hit wonders, top five hit in mid 90s, from the other side of the world. Was played a heck of a lot at the time.
I only read this recently and never before realised that Helen Wheels is the journey of PM making his way down from Scotland to London in his Land Rover, which he nicknamed Hell on Wheels. It includes several of the cities he passed along the way. I bought the single when it was released in 1973/74, where it reached #12 in the UK charts.
Never getting #50 DD. Words like those are easily recognised if you know the song well, which I clearly don't.

The title of number 50 pretty much sums up the political landscape at the moment :
How Bizarre by OMC (New Zealand band)
I guarantee you will have heard it before Aspro , it was played everywhere back in 95

Yes a very difficult opening line to remember YHTL but the song is very recognisable, still played today.
Happy days indeed in 95 - it was the last time EFC won a trophy

Just looking back and noticed several of my posts have been taken down, one was the answer Wooden Heart and the other was my excitement at getting it. Getting really stupid now, what on earth could have been wrong with either of those?

Beggars belief, but somebody is narked that on a quiet forum some chaps are talking about music and lyrics therein.
Quite why mods would indulge them by removing posts is bizarre, how bizarre, how bizarre...

58 - early 80s, Scottish outfit with a fairly unique sound, charismatic but troubled lead singer
59 - beautiful song, female folky artist ,amazing to think she was only 19 when she wrote it, recorded by her both as a solo artist and with the band she was part of (probably one of the most revered UK folk rock bands).

for some reason my post confirming the band were The Associates has been deleted or simply not accepted . This is getting silly now. I did remark on the sad demise of Billy Mackenzie but nothing to cause any offence or anything

As the forum's number one Leonard Cohen fan, i had to get Number 79 - The Future (absolutely cracking song, other forumites may recall it from the credits of Natural Born Killers) . I saw Leonard perform it on Jools Holland's Later over 30 years ago, along with another brilliant song Dance Me To The End Of Love. That performance changed my perception of his music and i've loved it ever since. The greatest lyricist ever imo.
Ref Number 78 - as a pedant i have to point out that Without You was originally written and recorded by the ill fated duo Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger. So sad what fate dealt that band, more victims of the unscrupulous Stan Polley could have been huge.
