Report Cider May 9, 2026 9:10 AM BST
A country doesn't have a mindset.

If Scotland was an island and funded itself, it would still be divided.

If it then joined the EU, it wouldn't be independent either.

Fantasies are what they are, English haters in Scotland have the perfect world right now as they can grandstand for free, whilst taking resources from the English.

For those in the UK, anything from Irish contributors here is just laughable. Ten years ago, the Brexit referendum was supposed to herald a united Ireland in a few years. WRONG.

The advent of Reform. They're just an English party, this will fast forward the break up of the united kingdom, starting with Scottish and then Welsh independence. WRONG AGAIN.

If anyone is clinging on to Scotland having another referendum given to them - it is Westminster's right to grant it, a point that is forgotten, time and time again.

Scotland were unfortunate in the timing of their referendum as it was pre brexit. They voted overwhelmingly to stay in Europe and wanted to,straight away a clash with Mr.Brexit himself. Surely you are not expecting a marriage made in heaven Jumper with these two? Not a hope, the Saxon/Celt psyches are too different.

Reform did well there due to the cap doffers who bow to Westminster, nowhere near England though.

Reform have valid points to be fair and are appealing to a disenchanted UK who seems to think that all their  problems can be blamed on migrants, some yes but way deeper than that and economically it looks in the height of trouble. That's the problem and if anyone thinks reform can 'fix' it good luck to them but how and at what cost to them is never answered but only migrant 'stuff'.

It's a funny system, designed to prevent a majority, and I'm surprised
they stick with it.

Does it take a super majority to change the voting system?
Report yak hunt May 9, 2026 3:30 PM BST
I think it's a very fair system, far better than Westminster dinosaur one.
Report yak hunt May 9, 2026 3:35 PM BST
The Holyrood voting system highlighted issues that Reform have. Reform have a solid core support of say mid twenties percentage, not enough to win constituencies if they come up against a very strong opponent such as the SNP or if other parties vote tactically to stop them.
Report yak hunt May 9, 2026 3:36 PM BST
The Holyrood list system enables parties such as Reform to realise representation in parliament as their support merits.

I'm not against pr.

I just find this version odd, and as it's designed
to prevent majorities, I'm surprised it's persevered
with, when one party, or two, want a majority to further
their agenda. And they have had a majority, and to some
extent the 2 parties voters are gaming the system.
