That talking about a thing isn’t the same as the thing itself, even just repeating it. If he wants a ‘win’ he has to risk loss, something the West is scared to death of these days. He has to risk losing lives himself….and he has to stop pulling punches Bombing munitions is fine, but it gives those that remain a belief they themselves are untouchable If you want rid of a thing, you have to hit it directly, not skirt around the edges. |

He's not worried about lives. He's worried about the money markets, about inflation. About the Fed not being able to cut rates four times this year like he planned. Interrupting his round to stand in front of a few hundred coffins is nothing compared to the possibility of him losing the mid-terms and the second half of his scheme to enrich himself and escape punishment is threatened.

Yeah, what was more interesting is what was left out. We know he likes to be the centre of attention but surely there was some kind of planned announcement. Withdrawal? Troops? End of NATO. Whatever it was, it got nixed and he was back to his weak attempts to placate the market.

The mad thing is that independents have a worse opinion of Trump than Dems. The overall number is always a bit of a nothingburger as American politics is generally so partisan. But it's more interesting when you break it down. More than 30% of Republicans are against him (that was never more than 10% for Obama and Dems) while, as said, the biggest haters are independents. Have to wonder which Dem voters are favourable. Would love to hear their explanation.
