he did have strong opinions considering the draw, which i thought was bonkers, i think a guy called mell cullinan was pricewise before him who had opposite opinions on draw who was very successful much better than segal

Don't know much about Mel Cullinan tbf.

collier it was sorry, there was a good article he wrote on secrets of pricewise, but there was other good people at that time, morden was looking at speed figure, potts wrote a good book against the crowd,
maybe Segal wasn't bonkers and he knew everybody now knew the draw massive but now was over factored into price, hence pricewise, personally I would rather have good draw than bad draw no matter price. I'm sure Winstanley was top speed rather than pricewise. |
|
By:
Now, I read that he started at the Racing Post in 1996 when I imagine Winstanley or Taylor were PriceWise.
As I recall Henry Rix occupied the Pricewise column prior to TS. Famously led what turned into a hugely successful public gamble on Pasternak in the 1997 Cambridgeshire. What a day that was. |

hazy recollections also, winstanley was very funny in weekender, i remember classic line "bad week, i couldn't tip a winner in an election with robert mugabe in it " i've used it a few times,
trying to remember top speed guys name, i've texted somebody he will know, in fact while posting i've remembered James Willoughby |

UB - if you are going to call someone the best tipster ever then you have to give some stats to back that claim up surely ?
|

Surely the RP (or someone) must keep an advised prices log (maybe along with an SP only log for comparison) otherwise how can you calculate any P/L ?
You cannot realistically claim somebody is the best ever without the figures to prove it. |

every successful strategy has a shelf life in gambling because eventually market will adjust and it won't be profitable, and also you need bottle big time, because you will have to take long losing streak if value betting is you're game, skip my hat to anybody who makes living from gambling, laying or backing

Thanks

Grand Cider, glad to hear somebody is doing well. I'm sure you won't share the strategy, who would on podcast or tipping service ? when you can take the lot yourself. Obviously you must have employees working for you or you wouldn't be wasting time every day posting right wing dung all day, because we both know gambling is a difficult game and if you take eye off the ball, no matter how confident you are, problems can escalate.

Posting on here doesn't take much time, as I'm sure you can testify!

you are correct cider dealing with numpties doesn't take long, hope you're gambling expertise continues

what a great advert for the game
putting up his tips for everyone to back , just after he has backed them himself ..... How come he can still get on ? Paddy blocked me after PUTTHEKETTLEON How come he doesn't just back them himself and not let anyone know Why tell the world , when he is so successful....he must be Woke or Loony Left |
|
By:
Does he get paid by the racing post and does he lay them once the price drops .......ooooohhhhh hang on a minute
|

He's a fictional character propagated by bookies. Otherwise he'd keep his tips in-house or charge a fee for them.
Highly fictitious and improbable scenario. |

Think Mark Coton was the first pricewise followed by Mel Collier.
Henry Rix did the Betting Bureau column in the Post. |

I actually bought the Today newspaper for Henry Rix's tip

This thread is a wind up.

It is not.
I'll put it like this: +/- is hard to pin down because the price is volatile: if the price was guaranteed, we know Tom Segal would still be raping the layers. A lifetime interest leads me to the claim that the current PW is the best tipster ever. Some cooks need a stopwatch and a temperature prong, the masters magic better dishes from instinct. Tom Segal is such a magician imo. |

I would .. because nobody could stop it.
What has that impossible fantasy to do with betting? There would be no betting. |

UB - if you have a lifetime interest then why can you not come up with any figures to support your claim ?
It's quite simple to have a log of P/L to advertised prices as well as SP. that is the only way you can gauge how good a tipster is, not some pie in the sky perception of their merits . I've no issue with Tom Segal, he is a decent tipster but the best ever ? ! You need facts before you can claim that. |
|
By:
I doubt data exists, without putting in a deal of effort
to collate it as to who is best tipster. Obviously a good tipster in racing post with a large readership is going to move markets, and bookies had to take action limiting steaks on his selections. There's been a few good golf tipsters too,, and prices were routinely chopped so impossible to get on Steve Palmer certainly shifted markets. Keith Elliott possibly daddy of golf betting and sadly clued up a lot of mug bookies about golf betting. |
|
By:
The best tipster would be the one that can prove his/her tips were profitable both for themselves, the reader or listener, and the organisation they work for.
Love them to show us their tickets or copies of all their bets. Dont go there FFS |
