Off shore wind turbines will escape the local criticism that the turbines have on land. We will need to get the electricity to cities which will involve miles of tall pylons as cheaper than putting underground.
We have had decades of procrastination , especially with nuclear power. Having our population increase by over 1% each year will add to difficulties in hitting targets.

That's my point nanny, You're angry at the wrong people.
No doubt you read the news that Elon Musk has been lobbying UK & EU Governments to put taxes & Tarrifs on UK petrol cars to fund subsidies for his cars.
If/when this happens you'll likely put up a thread blaming greta, but AFAIK, Elon will trouser the lot.
Your high electricity bill is the pay off for some other billionaires making political donations and lobbying government. It ain't a product of some smelly tree huggers blocking the streets for a week.

I am all for renewable energy I have solar panels fitted to my house, shed and allotment, the problem I have however is where the renewables are situated, and who we are paying into the bargain? IMO every town city and farm should be providing a mixture of renewable energy to the local area, this would provide safe energy free from external stress and crisis and stop bleeding money away from the local area. Invest in renewable energy locally it makes not only the most sense but the only feasible option

Greta has left the green mob Escapee ,she has now Joined the Palestine protests , Regarding very wealthy people her family have becaome Multi Millionaire from the Green Business
I wonder how they will make money out of the Palestinian Cause ?
I'm all for Cheap Clean Energy , sometime in my life time would be helpful
Also Recycling as much as possible
Ev's if you want one No problem ,I dont
Heat Pumps same
Massive Carbon Eating Plants a Total waste of money imo , Nothing the UK does on that front will change anything Climate wise
Sending billions to corrupt Governments for Climate Change is also a No no for me

Supposed to be a big announcement coming on grants and loans for solar panels coming isn't there. Great news.
But bad news for those desperate to keep us on the hook of Putin and the sheikhs.

Is because there’s no raw material, that you can show to justify charging for, wind and sun.it looks, feels free,so harder to charge for it.
Plus, vested interest in fossils, control your excellent MPs ,who work tirelessily for you.they d never drag their feet on moving over to green energy, even if the fossil fuel industry offered them millions, they d reject this luxury future to do what’s best for you, everyone knows that.
Plus turbines and panels blight our country side, they would hide the bueaty of pylons and closed down mines, these fantastic picturesque structures, make Britain what it is.

We are a long way from the capacity that would be needed. China is the largest producer of wind turbines and solar panels and they mainly use coal fired power to produce them. If renewable energy was cheap and efficient enough they would use it for all of their production.

Good thing nobody is talking about relying solely on batteries tomorrow then.

No but we are forcing a switch to renewables before it is economical. Chasing net zero targets is not smart when our economy is going down the toilet. I suppose if it was up to you people we would be sealing up all the coal mines!!!

No I wouldn't want us to be like the DRC where they send children as young as 7 down the mines to mine the cobalt so your precious battery prices can freefall.

You can make your own batteries quite easy, plastic tub, some aluminum, some coal or other carbon, blanket & an electrolyte of your choice. Youtube is full of how videos on how to make one. They have a very high energy density, some solid fuel rocket engines are made this way.
