Virgin unable to provide their services to my new home after checking it out. Closed account. BT could, so switched to them. Virgin want 480 quid as my final bill! How does that work? I understand that Ofcom etc are investigating this company because of so many complaints!

If you’re cancelling within contract, and as you’re unable to take your services with you, we’ll waive any early disconnection fees. All you’ll need to do is provide proof of your new address within 30-days of cancelling – such as a copy of your mortgage information, rental agreement, insurance policy, utility bill, bank statement or driving license. A friend is in the same predicament. She and her daughter - both registered disabled - hence the impending move from a 1st floor social housing flat with 4 flights of stairs to a new build with a lift. However, her present 4-month old (contract 24 months) broadband supplier Community Fibre does not provide broadband to this new build. The early disconnection fee is 50% of the remaining contract ie (20 months x £26) x 50% = £260. A decision is pending on the disconnection in the next couple of days.
She's very happy with Community Fibre. However, she's been given this new flat with a lift. The communal broadband built-in is BT Openreach) to mitigate and facilitate their disability. Both have EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), a disease of the connective tissue.
