'Declaring Rwanda a safe country demeans parliament, and doesn't make it a safe
country to deport migrants.'

Good, that's why it would have stopped the flood if they thought they were going there

Could have, would have, should have

14 years, £700 million of tax payers money and only 3 people went ther3 and had to be bribed with more tax payer money.

A big breakthrough: A gang has been smashed!
From GB News website:

A criminal network that smuggled migrants from Britain to France in lorries claimed they "were simply doing the Government's job for them by transporting migrants out of Britain into France", a court heard.

Seven members of the London-based gang received sentences totalling 70 years in prison for conducting up to 20 runs from Dover to Calais between February and October 2023.

The operation represents a rare instance of reverse Channel crossings, with migrants being transported from the UK back to France.

Rebecca Austin, prosecuting, said the gang claimed they “were simply doing the Government’s job for them by transporting migrants out of Britain into France

So we are prosecuting the gangs who smuggle people out of this country, but allowing the import of illegal immigrants from France.

Just out of interest can you explain how cost effective the current scheme is of British taxpayers paying out £8+ BILLION per year to have the illegals here (probably way higher now)? This is happening now under this Labour Government and it is getting more expensive due to them letting in even more. Add in what this Government has already given to France, how is that cost effective? The Tories were useless on illegal immigration and this Labour lot are even worse.

Yes Chrissy

It is a mess. Not helped by Brexit.

We have dumb people running this country for too long but the public voted for this and they voted for Doris Bunter Johnson so they need to shoulder a large part of the blame. Why would any country want these migrants. We got rid of all the treaty’s that would have repatriated many. Why shouldn’t France encourage them to come here?

I remember after the  Brexit vote people laughing at the unfortunate travelling to Greece and telling them it is the EU’s problem now not ours! How did that work out?

As for the Rwanda Scheme there are fools who still think it would have worked as a deterrent. Get Brexit Dun!

Like the Dublin regulation that resulted in us accepting more in than we sent out?

Bush’s State of the Union address had closed off any room for manoeuvre, Meyer informed London: “In the high-flown prose to which Bush is drawn on these set-piece occasions, he said in effect that destroying Saddam is a crusade against evil to be undertaken by God’s chosen people.”

In another cable the previous month, he said of Bush: “His view of the world is Manichean. He sees his mission as ridding it of evil-doers.”

In the end, the US and UK abandoned their efforts to get agreement on a resolution, claiming the French president, Jacques Chirac, had made it clear he would never agree.

In another briefing note before Camp David, the Ministry of Defence warned: “The loosening of Saddam’s grip on power may give rise to significant levels of internecine violence.”

One of the key findings of the Chilcot report was that Blair had ignored warnings on what would happen in Iraq after invasion, and it rejected Blair’s claim that the subsequent chaos and sectarian conflict could not have been predicted

This will be my last post on the Politics Forum, as I keep having my posts deleted when they contain links to news stories/videos published by GB News.

Below is the link to the migrant crossing data.

The hard left doesn’t like it when GB news is at the vanguard of the news so no doubt a lot of them go in to their safe spaces with their emotional support hamsters then report your posts.

Arrests for organised immigration crime by the UK’s National Crime Agency fell by 16 per cent to 192 in the year to April, despite Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s pledge to “smash the gangs”.

The number of small boat migrants arriving in the UK has now surpassed 50,000, with a 47 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Opposition figures and a Labour MP have criticised the government’s handling of the issue, with Robert Jenrick saying “it’s never been easier to be a people smuggler”.

The National Crime Agency said it has dedicated more resources and achieved a record 347 disruptions against people smugglers.
Experts suggest scaling up the UK-France “one in, one out” swap deal for migrants as a more viable solution, as 14 people have already died this year attempting Channel crossings.

Sent 2 more back without having to bribe them.

Spent £700 million less than the useless corrupt incompetent Tories.

remind me how many got SENT to Rwanda without being bribed? I mean not including Foreign Secretaries who were more than even bribed passengers. Cost £700 million. What is your point love? Tories are useless? We know that!

What's it got to do with the failings of the previous government?

This is a much bigger joke obviously as we are now flying them in, as well as boating them in. And yes, paying for everything.

Tell me what you think the point is of doing that?

These people that France are sending in must be a) safe & b) cared for. So by definition they are no longer asylum seekers. Just a very sick troll.
