All generations have their fools, edy . We elder boomers did experience food rationing until 1952 and I still have my parents' ration books. Nobody left food on their plates ever and gardens were full of cabbages and potatoes rather than grass and flowers. Even when I went to Liverpool as a student I discovered that large areas of the inner city areas were still bombsites, rolled flat. I know that we pulled out of penury much faster than did the soviet satellites, so I take your point and our children, whatever their generation is called were far better fed and pampered.

What is so complicated that you can’t understand .

Those on minimum wage don’t pay much tax or NI because they don’t earn much money.

Hardly rocket science is it. People who earn £100k a year pay more tax & NI than those who earn £15k a year.
Handouts are more likely to be given to unemployed, sick, minimum wage, those with dependents etc.
Those in the top 10% of earners are more likely to have private health insurance, send children to private schools than those who are unemployed or in low paid employment.

Can you understand 19? It is the basis of the current U.K. tax & benefits system.
