I don't think a majority will ever vote for independence if it means a different currency, a border, checks for goods, and an end to free movement
the SNP needs to come up with solutions to those issues first

free movement will only be an english issue, not for scotland, when scotland go back in EU, it may be an english problem, who knows ? that's for them to decide not Scotland.
Different currency won't be a problem now that cash is on way out. Tap a card anywhere in world.
The load of pish from England about not using Euros was the queen's head wasn't on note, nothing to do with currency, notes are on way out big time.

Of all the posts on here, or in any other thread, you won't find a sillier comment than that. Although, on the plus side, Emma Harper has at last found someone who agrees with her.
Had to let my laughter abate before posting. Thanks malay that really cheered me up.

Scotland obviously also have the option of the Scottish Pound, with some massive financial institutions up there.

And our Central Bank would be? In making these fantasy claims pp do you have any idea of the cost of setting up your own currency?
Scotland, in the unlikely scenario that we gained independence, would be stuck with the GBP as they couldn't afford any of the other options.
That would see the BoE dictating our fiscal policies. Taking it a step further and say we get accepted for EU membership then the EU, because of our debt to GBT ratio, would dictate our fiscal policies. Yes FREEDUM right enough.

a scottish pound pegged to sterling wouldn't be a terrible outcome

denmark's currency is basically pegged to the euro (there is some fluctuation, but within parameters)

a scottish pound might be a better option than the euro considering the imporatnce of Scotland-England trade

if scotland can't manage setting up its own central bank then it really isn;t fit to govern itself

why don't the SNP just say "we'll set up a Scottish pound and peg it to sterling"

how often do scots actually cross the border?

and people do use cards a lot more these days

Always love visiting twitter to see what companies the yestapo are adding to their boycott list.
I now think that every major supermarket chain has made the list.
Their crimes? Having the Union Flag on their products.
They really are a bunch of the looniest loonies. Laugh

Only 4 regions out of 32 voted for independence in the Scottish referendum

There is no mandate for Scottish independence and never will be , sorry .

The difficulty Scotland would face if their currency was linked to sterling is that people in England would be wealthier and could buy houses in Scotland eg and much else outbidding the Scots , it’s one small island and therein lies the problem

What fcking planet are you living on lfc1971?  That has been the case from time immemorial.  Check out East Lothian for any evidence you may need of the English using their superior, stockbroker belt, financial standard of living, to buy in the Scottish property market.  You continue to ignore reality and spout your never-ending propaganda.  I don;t know who you think you are going to convince.  Yourself maybe.

Yes but the difference will be that the average everyday English person , because of the differential in currencies , will be wealthier , that’s millions of people and able to snap up Scottish properties

Another example of why the snp are not fit for office.

On GB news this morning with press reports reproduced on twitter by the normal political commentators.
Sturgeon has instructed schools that children, some as young as 4, can change their gender without question.
Teachers have to accept this and note the name and pronoun they now want to be known as. They have also been told that parents need not be informed.

How can anyone vote for this mob.

Malay theres an old saying - When in a hole stop digging.
What does that have to do with Scotland not needing a currency because we all use 'The Card' now. I mean that is really funny.
