The royal kept a large group of gay friends, including Noël Coward, Terence Rattigan, Ivor Novello and Tom Driberg, who reportedly referred to him as 'Mountbottom'.

Lownie's new book, to be published on Thursday, contains an interview with Anthony Daly, a rent boy to the rich and famous during the 1970s.

Daly claims: 'Tom said Mountbatten had something of a fetish for uniforms — handsome young men in military uniforms (with high boots) and beautiful boys in school uniform.'

From the Daily Mail.

Do you know when Bernadette Devlin describes her early days at Westminster she said she was a bit of a loner
And she said Paisley was too , and if as she often was sitting in Westminster’s library on her own and Paisley came in he would sit beside her and they would talk and have a cup of tea
And then she said she would do the same

I remember when Paisley stormed into the European parliament shouting that the Pope was the antichrist. I doubt he believed what he was saying but it went down well on the Shankhill Road.

Seems to be a big contrast with peoples feelings towards Prince Philip,my own would be never speak ill of the dead particulary very recent,he has family and anyone would sympathise with them who lost those they consider dear.
I do get the backlash in how people are told how to think,ie the BBC in particular,i thought were deplorable with their immediate reaction,i think a lot of people woke up to the media with that.

The point with the bbc is it’s the national station , imo the coverage was correct
As I say we have a monarchy and it’s a question of respect
It’s not about being of being a supporter of the institution or royalty yourself

Ok,as obviously a non supporter of monarchy but accept it,fair comment.

To turn Paisley into a "gas man" is different,a rabble rousing bigot with the blood of many on his hands.

PRINCE Andrew reportedly told the Queen he wished to dress in Admiral uniform for Prince Philip's funeral - despite deferring the title after the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.

The Duke of York, who stepped back from public duties over his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein 18 months ago, was made an honorary Vice-Admiral in the Royal Navy on his 55th birthday in 2015.

Just read a story about how Prince Phillip helped put at ease a paralyzed IRA bombing victim who'd been invited to a state dinner at the palace. She was nervous about the cutlery, but Prince Phillip had her seated next to him --- and immediately ate all his food using his hands.

"Members of the royal family often wear uniforms to public events by virtue of their honorary roles with the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, but Harry lost his honorary military titles when he decided to give up frontline royal duties last year. As a result, protocol suggests that Harry, an army veteran who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, would only wear a suit with medals at royal functions."

So Harry who is the only royal to have served in a genuine theatre of war would have been unable to wear his uniform whereas all the plastic soldiers like Edward would have been able to dress up.
