Jimmy Carter, George Bush Senior and Trump only served four years.

because they weren't re-elected

tehy didn't walk away

last presdient to do that was Lyndon Johnson

do you think Biden will walk away?

would you be happy if he ran again?

I answered this earlier. It's for the American people to decide who to elect. Presidents don't automatically serve two terms.

Wheter someone would be happy for Biden to serve another time surely cannot be answered now. We aren't total cultists. Things like the competition, the first term and the candidate's health (and health prospects) at the time of the vote have to be taken into account.

Jfk did less than one term, the next guy didn't do 8 years either.

*to serve another term surely...

but what do you think?

would you be happy with Biden aged 82-86 in a second term?

because that's probably what America will get

The goppers might have a candidate we prefer to
a bloke that talks about hairy legs, or maybe he
will talk about hairy legs too.

If Biden shows during the next four years that the drugs he must've popped like candy to smash Trump during the debates work long-term without a detrimental effect, then at least the mental side shouldn't be too much of a worry.

Too early now to know how we will think
in 4 more years time about an election
in a far off land

Horrible hairy leg anecdotes that continue to rob your sleep aside, Giuseppe.

"We aren't total cultists. Things like the competition, the first term and the candidate's health (and health prospects) at the time of the vote have to be taken into account."

but that's my point

Biden's health WASN'T taken into account this time around

it was barely mentioned at all

Was it really not?
By:

'cuz I kept hearing how it's in doubt he'll even survive until the end of his term.

How do you know, you only watched two channels, didn't study polls or watch the Democratic Convention as you have proved (so far).

Roosevelt could have stood as in 1908 but chose not to

i think this was the ;last time an incumbent president did not seek re-election

and boy, the Trump campaign and selected cultists on here would never stop telling us how completely senile the guy was. How Jill should give Biden a big, gentle hug and tell him she won't force him to run for president anymore if all he wants in reality is sit in his rocking chair while looking at her hairy legs.
By:

When: 04 Jan 21 20:10
there used to be a convention (not an actual rule) that no president would serve more than twice

FDR was first to break it

not sure what point you're making ythl

(teddy roosevelt first term he started as VP btw, he became president after mckinley was assassinated)

"Perhaps the second world war was relevant?"

in 1940?
By:
Giuseppe
When: 04 Jan 21 20:20
teddy roosevelt was allowed (under the informal convention) to run again in 1908 as his first term wasn't a full term
By:

anyway my point is it would be very unusual for Biden not to run in 2024
By:

fuq me, last two pages devoted to opposing teams claiming the other's candidate is senile.

has it not occurred to you that both candidates are unsuitable for a multitude of reasons, including
but not limited to age and compis mentus

I think it's generally accepted, apart from total Trump cultists, that both Biden and Trump are utterly senile wrecks.
