They name teams out of STRENGTH, not weakness, but now the Washington Redskins & Cleveland Indians, two fabled sports franchises, look like they are going to be changing their names in order to be politically correct. Indians, like Elizabeth Warren, must be very angry right now!

Is there any group that this idiot hasn't insulted? Grin

Tim, you are posting some really strange stuff at the moment. You had one a couple of nights ago that suggested laying Trump and that somehow his price could be 3.2/3.7 which didn't make any sense at all.

It's this one here. I can't make head nor tail of it.

Tim, you are saying Lay Trump?
By:
timbuctooth
When: 08 Jul 20 21:54
For all bands up to 269 (which means The Don wins); currently POTUS 2.68, laying at the prices available in EC now pays 3.0, laying at best available prices paying 3.5
By:

When: 08 Jul 20 22:00
Tim, that doesn't make sense at all to me. I just want you to be 100% clear here. Are you saying lay or bet Trump at all the electoral college bands up to 269?
By:

No; lay it on the bed, on the tarmac and in the chicken coop
By:

When: 08 Jul 20 22:31
Ok Tim, I will go along with you on this, here are the current lay prices for Trump on the electoral college votes market up to 269...

Band/ Lay Price

119 or less 12.0
120-149 10.5
150-179 9.8
180-209 6.4
210-239 7.8
240-269 9.0

You are saying if I lay all these prices I will achieve 3.0 Trump. Ok, you have £100. Show me how much to lay on each band so that I will get a return of 3.0 ie £300 (stake and profit).

timbuctooth
When: 08 Jul 20 22:57
I don`t know if you`re taking the mickey, or you really don`t know how to show it pays 3.0? (Actually, using those figures, it pays 3.08)
By:
politicspunter
When: 08 Jul 20 22:58
Not taking the mickey at all Tim. Go ahead and show me how me how much to lay on each band.

If you don`t know how to do it, it`s time to learn;
In `Settings`, turn on the `What if?` function
Go to a market that has at least six bands, and in which you have no bets
Line up six lays, pump in those prices
At the top of your betslip, click `payout`
Play around with various payouts to get the desired result, in this example, £309 should do it.

By:

When: 08 Jul 20 23:10
Tim, just show me how much to stake on each band please in the market we are discussing. Thank you.
By:
timbuctooth
When: 08 Jul 20 23:14
Why? Don`t you want to learn? Follow the steps, and it will answer your question, showing you how much to lay
By:
politicspunter
When: 08 Jul 20 23:17
Tim, I am simply listing the prices in the market you quoted. Can you show me how much to stake on each band please?

When: 08 Jul 20 23:45
Rather than handouts to the lazy and feckless, I prefer individual responsibility, self-help and education; you`ve been shown how to do it so if you really want to know how much to lay, you can do it for yourself. Otherwise, you`re clearly just messing around, best I leave you to your fun.

timmeh is right unless there is some trap in the conditions somewhere.  At the moment to back trump to get 270 or more ec votes, to return £100, costs $34 ie odds of 66/34 compared to the 1.7/1 in the pres win market.  timmeh used the opposite end on the market and although these aren't quite the same - six options rather than five, I'd be surprised if it was radically different.

This market will be settled according to the popular vote won at the 2020 presidential election and the respective projected electoral college votes. Any subsequent events i.e. a ‘faithless elector’ would have no effect on the settlement of this market.

This market will be void if an election does not take place in 2020, or the named candidate does not contest the election. If more than one election takes place in 2020, then this market will apply to the first election that is held.

When: 09 Jul 20 09:49
btw the only trap I can think of is a viable third candidate getting some EC votes meaning that a pres could be elected with less than 270. Can ye believe that happening?
By:
----you-have-to-laugh---
When: 09 Jul 20 10:06
surely that is outweighed for trump backers by getting non runner no bet which is about 1.08
on here

remembering, of course, there is little liquidity on this market, at the moment
