Biden is an unknown quality but it is virtually impossible to believe anyone can possibly be as bad as Trump. Nobody in history has brought more embarrassment to the USA than Trump. Trump had a perfect opponent last time. Hilary was a terrible opponent and ran a terrible campaign. Even so Trump still lost be a few million votes and only the bizarre process that allows the loser in a 2 horse race for president to be awarded the race. I know most of the world hopes the good American people choose a saner less odious more honest person next time. |

Furthermore, the Electoral College encourages coalition building across the U.S. by the political parties, since no single region has enough electoral votes to decide the presidency alone. Therefore, the system requires that, to be elected, a president needs to have a sufficient distribution of support across the country, as well as sufficient support within the population. Although this system might create a greater focus on swing states during elections, the requirement for countrywide support would be lost without the Electoral College. Hence, the electoral system might be regarded as protecting democracy by enforcing a system where a larger part of the U.S. has to be heard. |

There's quite an easy way to tell that Trump is not the embodiment of the real right. You only need to look at his support. The real right has always been first and foremost carried by the middle-class intellectuals. Sure, he now also has the support of industrialists who are in it for the tax gains, but quite a decent portion of his most enthusiastic voters are uneducated, unwashed plebs that used to be left-wing like flushgordon1. The right as we knew and loved it has been hijacked by left-wing plebs.
