They seem to be as good as you at framing Grin

This is what Jeremy Corbyn said in the Q&A about antisemitism, and about what Ephraim Mirvis, the chief rabbi, said about Labour’s record.

"I made it very clear in my speech, and I make it very clear again now, there is no place whatsoever for antisemitism in our society, our country or in my party and there never will be so long as I’m leader of the party.

And, since I become leader of the party, the party has adopted processes that didn’t exit before, has had a disciplinary process that didn’t exist before. And when people commit antisemitic acts, they are brought to book, and if necessary expelled from the party or suspended or asked to be educated better about it.

I’ve also introduced an education system within the party.

I want to live in a country where people respect each other’s faith. I want to live in a country where people feel secure to be Jewish, to be Muslim, to be Hindu, to be Christian, and I want to lead a government that has an open door to all of the faith leaders.

So I invite the chief rabbi, I invite the archbishop of Canterbury, I invite all the other faith leaders to come talk to us about what their concerns are.

But be absolutely sure of this assurance from me: no community will be at risk because of their identity, their faith, their ethnicity, or their language. I am proud to represent a diverse community in parliament. I’ve spent my life fighting racism in any form, right outside here on Tottenham High Road in the 1970s.

And so there is no place for it, and I ask those that think have not been done correctly to tell me about it, talk to me about it, but above all engage. I’m very happy to engage with anybody. My whole life has been engagement with people. Sometimes you agree with them, sometimes you don’t, but you only learn by that process of engagement.

So I say to all communities, let’s make our country safe for all of us. That is what our manifesto is all about and that’s why I’m so proud of our race and faith manifesto today."

Was an interesting interview.

I felt sorry for Corbyn as he got bogged down on a couple of issues.

He could easily have just said

'I am sorry for how slow we have been for handling anti-Semitism but we are fully committed to dealing it'

As for the nonsense about killing a terrorist. He should have just painted a picture where he would say pull the trigger that no one would argue with... e.g.

'If a terrorist had his finger on a suicide vest in a crowded place I would say fire'.'

Not sure quite why he couldnt just say those two things and move onto his social justice policies and be a little bit more positive.

Prince Andrew thought he messed up after his car crash interview. He'll be feeling a lot better after seeing Corbyn squirm through that little lot.

Corbyn wants to keep Britain safe apparently, which is why he instinctively sides with our enemies and won't take out Islamist Terrorists when the chance comes.

You can be sure Momentum will have been very busy since this afternoon getting the online Corbynista mob to put out a lot of pro-Corbyn propaganda on Social Media tonight.

The so called working class are generally straight forward talking sensible people and it beggars belief to think that they could watch that interview and subsequently vote Corbyn.
He failed miserably on the Jewish question, taxation , Brexit and defence. Viewers have been left with the understanding that the country will be paying higher taxes, defenceless and swamped with immigrants .Vote Corbyn if you're a terrorist or criminal !
Report Angoose November 26, 2019 7:47 PM GMT
Was certainly not good, but not an absolute catastrophe.
Don't forget, he was set up by The Times, was always going to be on the defensive as a result of that.

But definitely should have been better prepared and projected himself more positively.

Neil's style of questioning is designed to make the guests look bad.
Let's see if he is equally aggressive with Johnson.
Report clacton November 26, 2019 7:53 PM GMT

Report InsiderTrader November 26, 2019 8:12 PM GMT
Was it really misinformation?

Surely Corbyn should have tackled it head on in the first minute. Say sorry and move on.

Why does he find it so hard to say 'I am sorry we were so slow on the uptake. We are now dealing with it. I apologise.'

Then the whole debate on it is over.

Or does part of him want this tag for some reason?

johnson was interviewed by neil during tory leadership campaign

Johnson on not backing Kim Darroch
Johnson, the frontrunner, was pressed to explain his decision not to support the British ambassador to Washington, Sir Kim Darroch, who quit on Wednesday after days of criticism by the US president, Donald Trump.

AN: When you were asked four times in the ITV debate to support our man in Washington, you did not do so. After watching it, he was so dismayed by your failure to do so it was one of the reasons he resigned.
BJ: Actually, I spoke to him the following day and said how sad I was that he had resigned, and he pointed out that he didn’t watch it. So you might need to check your facts, Andrew, before you make –
AN: Did it play a factor in his resignation?
BJ: He said that what somebody had relayed to him had certainly played, had been a factor in his resignation –
AN: So what – your lack of support for him was a factor in his resignation?
BJ: I think that unfortunately what I – what I said on that TV debate was misrepresented to Kim.

Johnson on the Gatt arrangement
Johnson’s claims on Europe were also forensically examined, and the pair shared a bad-tempered exchange about the minutiae of article 24 of the general agreement on tariffs and trade (Gatt), which ended with the leadership hopeful admitting he did not know what one of the key clauses consisted of.

AN: So how would you handle – you talk about article 5B in Gatt 24 –
BJ: Paragraph 5B. Article 24. Get the detail right. Get the detail right, Andrew. It’s article 24, paragraph 5B.
AN: And how would you handle paragraph 5C?
BJ: I would confide entirely in paragraph 5B, because that is –
AN: How would you get round what’s in 5C?
BJ: I would confide entirely in paragraph 5B, which is enough for our purposes.
AN: Do you know what’s in 5C?
BJ: No.

Johnson on London’s crime rate during his mayoralty
Neil also challenged the former foreign secretary about his achievements as London mayor, since Johnson has repeatedly tried to take credit for falling crime rates during his stewardship of the capital between 2008 and 2016.

AN: It went down 20% in London when you were mayor, crime?
BJ: Crime went down roughly 20% when I was mayor.
AN: How much did it go down at the same time in the rest of the country?
BJ: Well –
AN: By 26%.
AN: So you were behind the rest of the country.

i expect he has resised this ready for next go

That's exactly right alun2005.

I pointed out the hypocrisy of Labour many years ago, when I wrote that they call people racists for opposing mass immigration, while many of those ones they were importing where hardened racists.
And they were delighted to have them in their party.

The policy had to turn sour on them and it clearly has.
Now they're stuck with it.
