Of the six Labour MPs who rebelled and voted with the government on Saturday, only one, Caroline Flint, is standing again in the next general election. But in her constituency of Don Valley, which she has represented for 22 years, that decision seems unlikely to be a costly one.

Any Labour MP with an ounce of intelligence and integrity would never have voted for the Letwin Amendment, why? To uphold the result of The Referendum and Democracy, simple!. Unless of course one is S(stupid) Kinnock (family induced perhaps) who spouted support for the result of The Referendum in public yet voted for the Amendment; his family was in The EU feeding trough for yonks, and very possibly in the future again. Easy money!

I had already flagged this up via her twitter.

Is that it? I don't know enough about the selection process but it has been suggested in recent days that the NEC would move to prevent anyone who backed the deal standing as a Labour candidate.
Report impossible123 October 20, 2019 6:54 PM BST
NEC = No Effing Clue - they really don't. They are bumbling along pretending issues would go away by themselves; deselecting Labour MPs who supported Democracy? Another own goal, seems to be their fav pastime.

Report politicspunter October 21, 2019 2:07 PM BST
If you look at her constituency, it's 69% leave, 31% remain. In the event of a snap general election where Brexit is the key issue, who are the 31% remain voters likely to now vote for? Flint has made her position clear, she is a leaver and will vote with the government. She is fortunate that the LibDems don't strictly count here and she has obviously taken that into consideration when deciding her stance. However, now we may have 31% of her electorate effectively homeless in a general election.
Report politicspunter October 21, 2019 2:08 PM BST
