The announcement from .@jeremycorbyn and @UKLabour today means that Labour is now a remain party and that means one thing. We have lost 5million Labour Leave voters, possibly 100 MPs will lose their seats and Jeremy has lost the next general election

i feel for the 47 mps who have said they will not vote for a referendum or revoke..the pressure on them now will be doubled..there numbers don't add up in this parliament..so a GE will decide brexit...labour are now a party of the south with a few cities in the north...the sad thing for me more than anything is the utter frustration people feel with labour now being the lib dems ...all the people who need a labour government will now not get it.

Very sad to see the decline of the trade union movement in this country. What was once a radical force now just seems to be an outlet for left liberal frustration with Britain’s working class.

Labour have never supported either no deal or bad Tory Brexit, what is the big change today? Something like 5 backed May's deal at last count, and like 8 maybe were ok with no deal? So the overwhelming majority have always been against these options, their manifesto always rejected these options, if you aren't for these options you've got to be for something else, ie. another ref or remain.

What are you going to do about rural bus services and transport for schoolchildren?
What are you going to do to collect litter and cut down on plastic pollution damaging our rural community, farms and wildlife?
What are you going to do about providing better ambulance cover to the nearest A and E department and how can you improve the waiting times there?

Schools, NHS, public transport, the environment- issues that matter to me but clearly not to you.

Report n88uk July 9, 2019 11:09 PM BST
If you are truly socialist you wouldn't be swayed solely on Brexit like that article makes out, and you certainly would not be voting Nigel Farage's Brexit Party.

The constant making out of a u-turn is absolutely nonsense, there is no u-turn, it was literally in the 2017 Labour manifesto the Labour government rejects no deal and a bad Conservative Brexit, again today they reiterated they are against these 2 things and will back a referendum and remain against them.

It also focuses way too much on the very basic premise of a Labour constituency voted leave = the voters voted leave. The data shows this isn't true, Labour's voters lean towards remain everywhere, so saying 70% of their constituencies voted leave is way too basic, how did the actual Labour voters vote in those constituencies. Given numbers I remember seeing when I saw this show 70% leave seats it was like 55% leave of actual Labour voters I would guess the number is way lower than 70% of constituencies did the Labour voters vote leave.

The icing on the cake might be at the end though where it talks about Labour always being for among other things factory workers, you have to be not on this planet to think Brexit will be good for factory workers, it will be disastrous for them.
Report tony57 July 9, 2019 11:15 PM BST
n88uk, i saw most of the data labour leave got..it worked out 65% voted remain 35% voted leave labour voters on the day..your way out about leave constituencies in those WC voters voted 3/1 for leave, labour voters in some cases were 2/1..but not all WC vote labour..(they used too) but it wont matter now...
Report n88uk July 9, 2019 11:36 PM BST
The data shows Labour voters leaned towards remain everywhere, obviously the more leave the area, the more likely they were to be leave. It would also be interesting to know what portion of those that voted leaver and Labour support no deal or the Tory Brexit deal so far, as that will be an even lower number. I mean those who voted Labour and support no deal pretty much must have not paid any attention to Labour's manifesto last election.
Report thegiggilo July 10, 2019 12:39 AM BST
Labour could never win an election anyway with enabling a tory brexit, this way they might just keep it to a minority government i gace up on labour winning an election months ago..Johnson will leave with no deal, then you can see for yourself what a tory johnson brexit looks like, come back in twelve months and say how great it's working out for everyone especially for the north, let's see how happy they are and how their lives have been improved...
