No I doubt he could but she has nothing much to gain by it either given her poll lead -The Torys are still wary after Camerons 2010 debate.

The main issue will be Brexit and the other leaders would be well aware that she can't be specific and capitalise on this.
As she will no doubt say, No means no. What a woman.

I see the point not going in with 5 or 6 of them, they'd all be having a swing at her but 1 on1 corbyn is a no brainier

She does appear very uncomfortable and nervous when put under pressure with the
even simplest of questions,she probably would look very bad in a T.V. debate..

We have had enough of politicians talking. The most important and overriding issue facing the government for the next 10 years is Brexit and the tories are the only possible option to take this through.
And they are certainly not ideal.

But every other factor is miniscule in relation to Brexit.

Theresa May would be vulnerable in situations that are not choreographed because, when her blood is up, her voice sickens.

I want to know how well he can build not how good he is at arguing.

Same with politicians, it's good policies we need not good personalities.

Other places would not tolerate a leader incapable of mounting an argument, it is impossible to imagine this lamentable democratic deficit in the USA, for example.

Thersa May would certainly come out on top in a debate with Corbyn as she does every week in PM's questions.
But what would that do to her image?
Would she come over as overbearing, domineering. She could easily win the debate but come second in the eyes of the public.

I know that's a little too deep for the average Labour voter, but politicians certainly have to look further than the ends of their noses.

What government positions or shadow cabinet  positions did Corbyn hold before he became Labour leader? None whatsoever.

She won't debate him because regardless who argued the best about policy (which ultimately is pointless bickering about potential futures) which is open to debate, she would come across as robotic and out of touch. It's a zero sum game - it's a shame she's able to take the cowards way out so easily though

What did we get out of the last TV debates ? Hot air,plenty of cliches and the wimmin hugging each other ? Before that we had Clegg coming across well against the established parties, Brown struggled a bit unfairly because of his style.May has everything to lose and very little to gain by appearing in a TV spectacular,next they will be calling for all our politicians to appear on I'm a Celebrity.... A load of shyte and you have all fallen for this lately.

Anx. It's infinitely more staggering that there are people out there who think Corbyn, Abbot et al should be running the country.

Isn't that just media play etc. Agree that Abbott's had a mare but very little was mentioned of May's wish to ban tourism


I actually think Corbyn's been far more impressive than I'd have thought possible so far in the campaign. The contrast between him going out, connecting with real people, facing questions and giving straight answers couldn't be starker with May's horrendously stage managed, scripted, crowd controlled appearances where she bricks it if she sees a pen.

But you never hear about her being incompetent. She somehow has become Magggie v2. And that's somehow seen as a good thing btw! Suddenly it's all about her, not the Conservatives. Understandable when you're trying to pinch UKIP and Labour voters while also trying to keep the likes of Johnson, Fox, IDS and Jacob Plumby-Plums as far away from attention as possible. But the thing is she was a terrible home secretary. A rotten one. And she's done nothing as Premier to suggest she's any good at that either. She has zero charisma, is clearly terrified of having to think and give a straight answer that isn't choreographed, has looked to block the courts, the House of Lords and Parliament from having any meaningful say in the negotiations at various times and has effectively seemed to narrow our options down even before we've began.

So no. The idea that Corbyn is incompetent while May is "safe and stable" is a lazy stereotype perpetuated by a half arsed media who have their reasons for keeping their mates in Downing St.

What policies anxious?
The ones costing about £50 Billion that are covered by an expected increase in Corporation Tax of about £16 Billion.
Will be £16 Billion as long as no company moves it HO to Dublin or America or any of the other countries with a lower CT.
These are policies that will bamkrupt the UK.

Sentiment versus realism,an interesting discussion.

Sensible move by May.  She has little to gain by taking part in debates.
Labour are gifting her an election victory, no need to take any chances.  Just sit back and let Jezza and Abbott do the job for her.
