She played it sly during the most important vote of our lives and is now favourite to be next PM. People call Boris cynical but at least he got involved. Whenever I mentioned her strategy on here I was shouted down by people saying she had no chance of being PM.

Anyone read the full times article today? Is she guaranteeing an end to an immigration policy that favours EU citizens over world citizens. Will she definately get us out of free movement of people within the EU?

Fair points.

Also she has been Home Secretary for nearly seven years and failed to curb immigration,I don't think she has the stomach for it.
Report posy June 30, 2016 9:03 AM BST
Lasting that length of time at the Home Office has been a tremendous achievement and without doubt she's the right person to become leader of the party and prime minister.
Report ZenMaster June 30, 2016 9:04 AM BST
She and Boris are favouring the 70/30 option on immigration.

Allowing those with a definite job offer into the country for a period of time, giving them a NI number. This is estimated to be 70% of migration.

However there must be a visitor/holiday/roaming pass as well, and this will allow job hunters in as well.

Dorris was around 1.8
May was around 5.4

Just after Cameroon took his ball home.

I knew the knives would be out for Dorris and May would be regarded as a safe pair of hands.

I think she will make a good Prime Minister. Dont know how popular she is with the wank and file though but pretty sure they will want to remain in power and she if without doubt the safest bet.

Too toxic and they will want to move away as far as possible from Faragism.
They will want to reassure the Remain side.

Not my preference, but this is what will happen.

I am very worried they are not going to stop free movement of people which is what England outside London voted for.

I admit backing May when she went off the radar but I think it would be a disgrace if a remain politician gets the job. Labour MPs also support remain. What a mess and it will only hand more power to UKIP.
Report ZenMaster June 30, 2016 10:39 AM BST
Your fears will come true IT

Free movement of 'labour' will continue, with some adjustments i would imagine.

Time for Farage to get busy, how will the working class take this?
Report InsiderTrader June 30, 2016 10:44 AM BST
The overwhelming majority of Conversatives backed Brexit. I just pray they do not fall for this when they vote. If its Gove V May when it goes out to members they must realise that May is going to be much weaker on introducing a points based system. In the home office she has failed to bring down non-EU immigration.

We need to take a clear move now to sort this issue out before UKIP take hold of it.

Theresa May has a disqualifying feature, one I hate to bring up as it could be a source of great sadness to her.

Gove is slimy but capable though can't be trusted. Leadsom was impressive in EU debates and could surprise. Fox is a chancer who has no possible hope of winning.
Home I come and Boris has packed it. Can see Gove and Leadsom mp supporters cutting each other up with Fox damaging both slightly.  Final ballot prediction May v Crabb.

I presume the " gayer " Sean Rua is referring to is Liam Fox.
The Smith he keeps referring to must be Ian Duncan Smith.

Ian Duncan Smith has had his chance, won't run.
Liam Fox will have little support.

Its going to come down to a fight between a Brexiter and a Remainer.
Boris tested the water, found he had no support among his fellow MPs.
Michael Gove tested the waters also and found he had substantial support.

Crabb is only trying to heighten his profile.

A fight between Michael Gove and Theresa May ending sadly with a victory for May.

Insider trader - I've been saying for a month that this would be the result of a brexit as not one of them had any sort of a plan for the aftermath. To not even know what model of membership you want (or is even preferable) when this has been an issue for so many on the right for so long is scandalous. These people are running the country and have played the nation (esp brexiteers) for fools ffs and I will now sit back and watch this '2 for the price of 1' farce unfold and laugh with the rest of the world at the new Banana Republic of Great Britain. We will emerge from it but are we going be a vastly improved country from the one we would have been at the same point? Hmmmmmmmmm

....

The plan is a red line on immigration. An Australian style points system for all. This means we cannot do what Norway and the Swiss do. It has to be more like the Canada deal but it is actually a deal for the UK. All deals are different. This is with the EU. Then with NZ, Oz, India, Brazil, China, Canada etc we can also do good trade deals. I dont think you can of being watching the campaign. No one suggested OUT would be a deal that allowed from movement of people.

With it looking like May could be taking over I feel DC should have stayed on and done the Job. If she can have Brexit department he could of as well.

I read on here 20 different views of what people want (some of which make perfect sense) and I don't think it's different amongst those that are going to decide the fate of this country. May's speech was good but still, go back and watch when she was questioned on immigration, she spluttered a bit and remember that she is the woman whose responsibility it has been to control immigration while it has risen so much - her answer? Stop exactly the people we need to encourage  - young, fit well off (students) from coming here just to massage the figs!
Wild - Farrage ended any hope of any sort of role in anything much with that speech and i think even his people realise that now. The biggest donor (who has some explaining to do about how much was spent possibly) has said he should think about leaving now.
