I heard somebody talking on LBC radio yesterday talking about Dr Fox & the more I think about it.The more it might make sense.

He has been an MP for over 20 years & He is held in quite high regard by most MP's.
He supported Brexit,he has strong views on the NHS etc & he would probably be the best Tory to try & unravel the Scotland issue.

Seems an ideal candidate for the con &U party leadership.

I still think carswell would be better.

I'm starting to think Theresa May might be the ideal candidate.
Yes, she was Remain, but I get the impression she was somewhat of a reluctant Remainer at best.
She made a single major speech on the EU in late April and we didn't really hear much from her again.
In the interests of unity, having won the referendum, the Leave side could offer the olive branch of accepting a Remain PM.
A woman PM might also help any negotiations with the EU, given that Angle Merkel, assuming she's still managed to hang onto the post of German Chancellor (elections in 2018 I believe), will probably have a leading role.
It may just take a couple of women to help resolve the current situation.
Just saying.

She would be  depressing choice, hiding from the fray then seeking to benefit, the worst type of politician undeserving of support from anyone.
Report Dr Crippen June 28, 2016 11:20 PM BST
I'm suspicious of anyone who would sign away their country to be ruled by others.
Especially May who I thought was Eurosceptic, but put her career first (so she thought) by siding with remain.
Report mafeking June 29, 2016 12:58 AM BST
surely way more than half tory MPs are really leavers ? a lot of the declared remainers like may only did it to keep onside with cameron and osborne thinking they backing the winning side. no need to do so now especially when it comes to the leadership election

Can ye please tell us the IMMIGRATION FIGURES  for "" ENGLAND'S INDEPENDENCE DAY""" 23 June 2016?

Scotland and Ireland voted NOT to leave the EU.

Ultra-conservative extremists seem to want to tell us we have to.

PROJECT HATE/PROJECT FEAR = The Conservative and Unionist Party ( two sides of the same coin).

The Conservative and Unionist Party is the A team of Capitalism.

They are our RULERS, come what may.

Forget all the other reformist losers - they will never get power.

'Tis easy for them to stitch up a bunch of thickos.

I'm in - lets have a power vacuum at the top of both political parties for a whole parliament. The whig party's comeback might really get into gear then.
Report treetop June 29, 2016 10:38 PM BST
David Davis should be on the ballot, stood for brexit alongside Hoey and Farage, head and shoulders above this lot but he has clearly upset too many by showing sincerity.
Report Dr Crippen June 29, 2016 10:41 PM BST
Didn't David Davis run for leader last time?
Report treetop June 29, 2016 10:44 PM BST
He did,was favourite until the Eton mafia decided they didnt want another ordinary bloke (after Heath) and they set up Cameron,he was in the cabinet but clearly couldnt tolerate being told what to do by schoolboys and engineered resignation to step down.
Report gambeano June 29, 2016 11:28 PM BST
Yes, David Davies was well clear in the leadership contest until David Cameron gave a bit of a barn-storming speech at the tory party conference if I remember correctly and Davies was pretty much done for. Bit of a shame, as we might have had PM who would have stood up to the EU, led a leave campaign and taken the nation with him. Now we just have to do it the hard way.
Report treetop June 29, 2016 11:34 PM BST
Even now he represents the best of a one nation tory leader material, can't understand why he isn't in this race. He showed gravitas during the recent campaign at the Gateshead venue I attended, different class for me,has cabinet experience instead of being a juvenile and has Liberty & Human Rights values that make him stand out.
Report ZenMaster June 29, 2016 11:47 PM BST
