What a terrible choice the French voters had. The obnoxious Hollande, almost as obnoxious Sarkozy, and the even more obnoxious Front National. Their economy desperately needs a middle of the road free market party to confront the suffocating power of Unions and with a belief in a balanced budget before they bring the whole of the Euro zone down. Why anyone would want to join an organization (the EU) which seems to be run by the French is hard to understand.

FN is getting stronger and the media is desperate to find any opportunity to claim its rise has been halted rather than comment how an extremist like Le Pen can gain in excess of 42% of the votes.
One more major terror attack between now and the election and she could win and they know it. |

I know you don't do percentages but it's the word DOWN that is the giveaway. There can be no hiding that the results of the elections are a big personal blow to Marine Le Pen. She has lost the chance to govern a region and show the world that her party is serious. She has been reminded that however strongly the FN performs, the gates of power remain tightly closed. The Republicans increased their share from 26.65% to 40.63% and the Socialists from 23.12% to 29.14%.

Exactly and the media built up the threat knowing they could then have headlines over a big "defeat".
Le Pen is in a strong position given that both the economic and social climate in France is set to continually move in her direction. A worsening economy coupled with more terrorist attacks (and dont forget that they have their own Rotherhams) is likely to bolster FN from here on. |

Does anyone know French Elections allow postal voting from within their own country, and whether the Postal Block Vote Procedure has been successfully implemented by the Peace-Loving types?
