I've got your email 4th. I've got a croft and I'm going over to feed the animals. When I get back I'll get onto it straight away. I'll leave my christian name on things because you'll have that anyway from my own email address. I'll send you a test email now. Can you let me know if you get it and then I'll get on the case proper in a couple of hours.

I've just returned from a nice lunch with the missus, I haven't the faintest what is going on.

Report Eeternaloptimist December 22, 2014 2:57 PM GMT
No problem my end 4th. I posted at 13.24 but it disappeared so I sent another and then it did appear so I've said the same thing twice. My question remains are you happy to go ahead or are you unhappy to proceed? I was pointing out that if I was seeking to scam you I'd have taken your money rather than suggest the sporting bet. Whatever you decide is fine by me. I don't want you unhappy with the bet or for you to be left feeling you may have been done over.
Report 4thjulykid December 22, 2014 3:05 PM GMT
No worries. The Cheltenham scenario is fine by me. As I said if you want to go I can get seats. John Frankham waffles for half an hour, but that's the only downside. The marquee is next to the Best Mate stand.

What was the wacko's post that went?

When you scan something your scanner software should tell you want the destination folder is

I use win7 ultimate 64 bit , so may be different , when you start explorer you have a tree list at the left and one has desktop\libraries\documents

If you’ve lost a file open a command window by pressing windows key and R , then type cmd and press ok
Type
cd \
This should take you to the root of your c drive
Type
Dir filename.extension /s
Eg
Dir cert.jpg /s

It's complete nonsense this. I never appreciated how dysfunctional Windows 8 was until now. Everything is different. There are Apps everywhere something I've never used. That treet list you suggest is non existent. It's how I would have scanned using my old computer. This is shiit.

it was all felt a bit too neat in the end, but proving things either way would be an even bigger waste of time than writing in forums generally.

making a bet on something that the other party can know the answer on 100% from outset is rather dumb but that's not to say I haven't seen it and got someone to bet with me like that so who knows.

beyond mild curiousity due to their views to see if the demographics of certain views are consistent with what I've seen in real life, I really couldn't give a f who people are what they do, that's the whole point of it being an anon forum.

Seems a nice offer though to be treated to a box at Cheltenham in festival week.
Report Eeternaloptimist December 22, 2014 11:23 PM GMT
Sadly I won't be at Cheltenham myself as I can't leave the wife for that length of time. Like I said earlier I couldn't in good conscience take a man's money like that when I know he doesn't have any chance. This way 4th either does as he promised or he doesn't. It'd be nice if he did and if the selection won it would be not just a tremendously uplifting story but a nice bonus but my conscience is clear either way.
Report Eeternaloptimist December 22, 2014 11:25 PM GMT

The offer of a £2 grand bet is meaningless.

Pick a short priced horse, then lay it for £2k on here.

Go to Cheltenham, back it with a bookie for £2k at a fraction below the exchange odds, suffer a small loss and save face.

Handing over £2k in cash to EO would be better imo.

EO - I'm sure he'll come good. The alternative simply doesn't bear thinking about.

We certainly don't want any repeat of the utterly disgraceful scenes we all witnessed on the Chit Chat Forum a couple of Christmases ago.

One of the Politics Forum's most liberal/left-leaning posters (we'll call him Forumite X) inexplicably and presumptuously decided he knew more about Forumite Y and his family's life than was the case. Forumite X bet "a great deal of money" on an outcome (unstated, but by definition most people would therefore say a four or five figure amount) and humiliatingly lost the bet. Sound familiar?

Despite Forumite X being an avowed "progressive", a lover of Multicultural London (from a safe distance of living several hundred miles away), a man with a passion for Africa, you know….all the right stuff…. has since avoided posting on here although his forum name remains extant. I have no wish to name and shame him here, he has already humiliated himself, and there's no way back for that sort. Goodness only knows what his peers would say of his failure to pay.

Curious that Forumite X should have been completely silent since losing his bet. Hitherto, you could barely go a day without reading one of his lofty and often wincingly politically correct pronouncements.

Good luck to you both with the bet. Fingers crossed it isn't one of my Lays !!
