I thinks it is time to shed more light on the ipoker/ongame question here.

We will continue to offer our dotcom poker product through the Ongame platform but will be launching poker for the regulated markets of Spain and Italy with Playtech. Playtech’s offering allows us more flexibility of service as they are able to provide products ring fenced for different jurisdictions.

iPoker is awful but if skins like Hills, Betfair etc. move there they'll have to improve the product. Betfair will remain with Ongame as long as Bwin continues to offer the product on their site. But once Bwin moves to Party Poker there is no incentive for Betfair to remain with Ongame because there will be next to no volume which was the reason they gave up on their proprietary product to begin with.

This poker room will be on life support soon. The poker boom has turned into a pop and with f tilt dealing up again and as you say above even more competion for the fish. The chance is Betfair will see a fair drop in the player base. As the move to Ongame was supposed to cure betfairs problems it seems they will be right back to the problems they failed to cure ( instead seems they only killed the community spirt the site once had..well done with that ). Is the poker more hassle than it is worth ?( about 8% into coffers )some clever strategies from the management are required so with the clowns that run this farce ..it is doomed.

The deafening silence confirms what most of us have suspected for some time, apart from running Live Events/Pish ups, BT Poker Management have no interest in poker. I remember them discussing BWIN leaving in 2011 at them Q and A things me and Thrappers went to, and  there genuinely seemed no concern whatsoever about it, indeed many at BF seemed to think it a good thing as it would make BF a bigger player within Ongame.

They now have a situation where they are still tied to a crap network that their customers told them they didn't like, with traffic as crap as it was before they switched, and the worst Christmas Promotions I can ever remember in the time I've been playing.

At least before the BWIN exit they could say they were using a Network with traffic. Now players are sat watching tumbleweed blow past while waiting for half an hour for an STT to fill. And still no exit strategy on the horizon. They just sit on their hands watching the customers drift off to other networks. Bizzarre. Happy

2 1/2 years ago i was one of the biggest opponents to the move to Ongame, since the bad software already then was famous of big total crab.

For me Betfair is bye far the best site to play, and i will follow them anywere.

Thou i think a movement at this time would be a tactical error.

I believe that the american politicans either will make poker legal or put online poker to sleep the next many years.

If the US online poker market would be opended again, new players will arrive. Not all action will go tp Pokerstars (FT)

If Betfair moves to ipoker at this moment, they migth have the same problem in a year or two. One can only will certainty say that pokerstars and partypoker will surveive as networks if the american politicans decide to legalise online poker.

Pity the poor people that bought in when the company was first floated but I think the shares have got a lot lower to go yet. The novelty of exchange betting has worn off, the bookies have narrowed the gap in terms of innovation, markets and promotions, poker has been a disaster and the new Beta site is horrible, but the biggest problem is Betfair have no shops. They are missing out on the "no questions answered" cash that goes through FOBTs? I could probably put £10,000 through 1 in a day without anyone blinking an eyelid, but try buying a new car from a  dealer with 10 grand in readies? WH @ 3.50 or BF @ 6.70? I know which I'd rather have.

I've gone to Stars and am posting on a forum (not 2p2) where I've improved no end.

Ongaming had some decent XMas promos but I ignored them. Betfair/ Ongaming have so many stability issues, terrible software and bad customer services I've given up. I'll be playing Stars for the foreseeable future.

And Wulfy, you were the best poker player I ever came across on the old Betfair (Pokerchamps) but things move on, I sort of decyphered that you don't play on Ongaming either.
Report chipfire227 January 4, 2013 11:33 PM GMT
Agree about the bookies fighting back. The margins on football have been cut right back by the High Street and once you take comission into account, especially on multiples theres no real advantage to be had on BF. I backed Walsall tonight for instance and there was no difference between prices with the books and with BF. The bookies have also become very adept at identifying and limiting bets on people arbbing.

With racing, the best price guarantees will be winning back a lot of casual punters, especially firms like b365 who regularly give out free bets and bonuses, ditto Laddies with their odds on card for regs.

The other huge advantage they have over BF is that their customer service is normally excellent by comparison. They resolve your queries much quicker, apologise whenthey are wrong, and generally compensate you. Firms like b365 and s James actually make you feel valued as a customer. BF on the other hand are a nightmare to deal with in my experience.
Report chipfire227 January 4, 2013 11:42 PM GMT
You reckon Ongame had some decent Xmas promos Oval ? Jeez, I must have missed them.

All I saw was that STT nonsense where the Leaderboard didnt work, and you had to send them a spreadsheet you kept yourself to eventually get paid out 50 quid, and the Xmas Cracker MTT thing, which were 1000+ runner games that ran for about 7 hours and had either $500 or $1000 added. If you take into consideration the money clawed back in entry fees, there was about 30 pence a day on average in valueback for the loyal customer prepared to sit there and play a shytefest on Christmas Eve,Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Boxing Day etc.

Comapred to Xmas promos in the past they were absolute bobbins. Who can remember Prize Mountain from a couple of years back where you got an X-box or a Netbook for playing about 100 games in a month ? Or Santas Sit and Go Sack thing where you got payola for winning 3 STT's in a row ? Think I got about $500 out of that little beauty. Grin
Report Ovalman. January 5, 2013 12:05 AM GMT
TBF Chip any promo run by a site is there to reward the site and not the players, Betfair were over generous in the past.

The $1k added with 1000 runners wasn't bad by today's standards and much better than anything that Stars has to offer.

I've shown a lot of loyalty, they've been good to me in the past and I want Betfair to succeed. I've completed all the surveys, spoke on the forum but they've stuck 2 fingers up to me and everyone. I'm gone, I want to come back but I've no reason too.

The sticky at the top and lack of moderation where you can say whatever you want to diss the site says a lot on how much they want the poker to be part of their products.
Report chipfire227 January 5, 2013 2:47 PM GMT
Yeah but dont forget Oval the Ongame STT player is paying the highest entry fees on the net. You play a $20 Turbo STT and your fee is $2,even for D2N and heads up, so 10%. Most other sites charge 5-6%. We were told in the past that higher entry fee was justified because the network gave that money back to the players via promotions. So its our money they are meant to be spending.

In terms of the $1000 added Cracker game I played, the entry fee was $5.50 and there were 1200 runners. So they clawed back $600 straight away on the fees, meaning their spend was $400 across 1200 players, which works out about 20 pence per player.

Like you I wanted them to turn things around but it ain't happening. Gonna try Full Tilt for the next month or two. Probably still play a bit on here as got some leaderboard and rake money in the account, and theres a few other players I like to chat to at the tables every now and then.
Report wulfman1 January 5, 2013 7:03 PM GMT
Thank you for those kind words Ovalman, especilly at the moment were my poker confidence is on its lowest.

Comparing to other pokersites at Ongame or other Networks, Betfair is in my opinion the site that gives most value back to "middle and lowrollers".

The rake at HU games is ofcource to high, but if you are mainly a 6 or 10 handed STT player the rake is abouth the same as overall.

What Betfair did wrong in the past, was that they made some really nice promotions, but got little attention, due to bad managment.

Who dosent remeber the "Million dollar freeroll". The promo did cost them overall 2$ million

When the final was play in London (2009) there was only twitter coverage. So you make a 2 million promotion for the average players, and then you dont even pimp up your own final.

Pokerstars got abouth 30-70 times as many customers as Betfair. When they spend the same amount in a promotion, they get alot more action on there site, even if the value in average is very low.

So the main problem for Betfair has been bad marketing of really juice promotions.
Report chipfire227 January 5, 2013 8:29 PM GMT
Yeah I cant complain about the promos in the past, I got a WSOPE package from STAX promo, and WSOP package from that one in 2011. I repeatedly told them at the Q and A sessions if they cant update a Leaderboard regularly you defeat part of the objective in having them in the first place.
