Freerolls are a promtional tool. The thinking behind them is that you let people try a free game, and they end up depositing. At the moment there isn't much promotional activity for those of us who pay to play the site, let alone those who dont.
I would imagine Betfairs response would be that they are ploughing most of the promtional pool into the WSOP promos. Every time I sit at a SNG table I pay a fee, and a percentage of that goes towards the promotional pot. As a recreational regular it hacks me off that the bulk of it goes to Eastern European full timers via rake races, or doleites via Freerolls. So personally I'd be happy if they binned freerolls altogether. |

I'm sure I remember BF saying they had had done a lot of research before cutting back on the Freerolls, and found that a high percentage of those playing them did not go on to deposit or play any poker which required a buyin of substance, so were essentially not contributing to the poker economy.
Like I said, I dont mind them running the odd game so people can gain some experience, but running freerolls every 30 minutes for a bunch of folk trawling poker sites for free entertainment was crazy. The way things are going right now, they should be spending every spare penny trying to keep the dwindling band of players they have got whose rake keeps the thing going. If they were going to do any kind of Freroll they should be looking at a big one, say 5-10k, and give tickets to everyone that has played at least 30 days out of the last 60. They should also give them a fking medal an all for all the shyte they have had to endure. ![]() |
