Are these the biggest rip-off con trick yet ?

They  keep advertising this as a $100,000 giveaway, which, frankly, is laughable.

With the extra rake they must have generated from most of these promos, especially the rake races/leaderboards I doubt this has cost them anything. They even had the gall to run one giving prizes to people WHO COULD LOSE THE MOST MONEY PLAYING COINFLIPS. The Leaderboard for this  is proof in itself who thick people must be.

The ones where you have to generate a set amount of points playing cash games have to be a con. For todays you have to generate 50 player points. I played 3 tables of 25/20 last night foran hour and a half. I generated 188 Betfair Poker Points. The bar on the promo page moved about 3/4 of the way along, as it always seems to do.

I played 3 tables for an hour earlier today, generating another 70 Betfair points, the bar hasn't moved again at all. How do you prove you have generated 50 player points ? How do you know how many player points you have generated ? You can't, and you don't. The only people who know are Ongame, whose track record in running successful promotions isn't exactly good.

Almost all of them have been aimed purely at high volume, full time players, especially those playing decent stake cash games, with  nothing at all really for the recreational regulars they keep telling us are the lifeblood of the site.

Have to say this is the most pisspoor Christmas promotion in the 5 years I have been playing on here.

Yes.
I was not stupid enough to coin flip lose chase.
Nearly there on 2 table cash tho not moved in a few hours.
Rebuys going well today so do not want too many cash tables open too.

The 5k added MTT they ran had a 5.50 buy in, with over 3000 runners, so they copped 1.5k in rake.

The likes of gnasher that finished top 25 in the STT leaderboard had to play well over 1000 stts, to get their IPADS. Reckon they must have actually made a profit on that promo.

I swear they deliberately prevent that bar from moving once you get close to the target to keep you at the tables.

there were a few little gems in this whole promotion, but thats all.
Report chipfire227 December 22, 2011 11:45 PM GMT
Well I didn't see any.

Todays huge promo involves playing cash for 3 hours to get a ticket to a 400 runner freeroll, where you can win a Nintendo, worth about £100.

The freroll involves playing for about 5 hours on Christmas Day.

The Nintendo is marketed at kids about 8 or 9 years old, and Ongame probably got them as a job lot for about £60 per unit.

Whilst the cash ones are virtually impossible to get tickets for, todays qualification criteria for tourney players requires you to play one stt, one coinflip, and one mtt.

Total cost about a pound, and takes you about 30 seconds to register. You don't even have to play the fking things.

End result about 2000 runners trying to win a handful of coffee machines. I don't even drink the stuff.Laugh

Got through the 2 cash and have a ticket. Not sure will play though.
Trying the easy one and trying not to fall for the measuring bar not working. Coin flip did hours ago and still not come up. Similarly just out of Sit N Go.
Expect my MTTs will finish before midnight. More than one and still in. Not sure that I can take the suspense.

As nespresso only prize that I would want - if only to say - no I'm not George Clooney.
Obviously I'm just a moany old man now. 25-30 years ago 'would you like to come back for a coffee?' worked everytimeLaugh

Played MTT, coinflip, sngs on 23rd - no ticket.
Emailed 24th, no reply.
All sounds standard. Might ring em, might save myself time and effort.

There was me thinking you were talking about christmas full stop.

Christmas miracle:
Betfair referred email query to OnGame who responded today and now I have a ticket!
Pessimists among us might think someone doing their job after I did not auto receive the ticket I should have is no miracle, I know otherwise!

Jeez that's worrying gnash. You fellas in the top 50 or 60 must have turned over some bloody serious money during that promotion.

How many STT's did you fellas get through during the 3 days ? 1000+ ?
Report surrender December 27, 2011 10:47 AM GMT
Gnasher -- you can swap prizes for cash or tourner tokens -- I won nintendo 3ds -- and emailed them that I would like to swap it for tourney tokens -- next day there were 3 x $50+4 sit n go tickets in my account. I took these instead of $120 offered  ---- could have waited for prize and ebayed it but too much faffing about.

if you look in terms and conditions -- it tell you what you can exchange prizes for.

cheers

i played 1100games over 3 days. ihad to play the most on the last day, after thinking my 12 hr session on the tuesday thathad me in 2nd whenifinished would mean an easy last day.[iwas wrong]

about 40 people were chasing the 25 topprises on the last day, thou this dropped off as people relised the couldnt catchup with the lb updating every 15mins onthe last day.

i thought 700 would do it be4the 'off'
Report chipfire227 December 27, 2011 5:57 PM GMT
Given you only played on the site for the promotion they got about $1000 in rake off you then which they wouldn't have done otherwise ?

Fair enough BF have to stump up 40% rakeback, but even so the IPAD itself, bulk bought, wont have cost more than 600 bucks, so they actually broke even on the whole shebang in your case I suspect.

Report chipfire227 December 27, 2011 6:19 PM GMT
Did you see some of the totals on the Coinflip Leaderboard ? Absolutely frightening, people queueing up to pish money up the wall. Laugh

Must be the only 100k giveaway in history where the company offering it made a profit.

The coin flip promo was not too bad  -- I worked out that the 5 player 50 cent games gave much better returns than the heads up flips  -- cost me around $40 to win a $150 + 4  tourney token  ---- but then again I think I got RSI from registering from all the games so not really worth it --- and I didn't use bf account because didn't want to look complete donk on scoping software.....

totally agree that this years xmas promos have been totally crrap compared with betfair xmas promos of the past .... where was the New York one this year...???
Report chipfire227 December 28, 2011 5:47 PM GMT
I liked the sit n go sack, where you had to win 3 stts in a row to get a prize. Simple to understand, and gave just about everyone the chance to have a go at it.
Report surrender December 28, 2011 7:49 PM GMT
When Betfair merged with ongame -- in their trading report -- they could not understand why lot of their high volume players stopped playing --

For me the only reason it was that the promotions went downhill -- and I used to put in a quite a lot of volume on BF ----- the software is better on Ongame -- and volume/game choice  higher ---- but the promotions are not as good -- -- --
