Dont be so fecking stupid.
You call with all sorts of bollox and you fold a set here, if someone has QQ or TJ (which i presume they did otherwise you wouldn't post it) then GG WP but folding???? |
|
By:
Also even if they have TJ it is on ongame so you know you fill up the house on the river!

Solid winning player. Level 1. His range must be incredibly narrow.

HF - I am not asking what my range is - im asking if YOU would consider folding a set.
So you make the call knowing you are likely to be behind? And if you are up against J10 ... you are not really getting pot odds are you? |
|
By:
You've got to consider folding, as the J10 has every chance of being out there, but more likely AQ or 2 pairs is trying to stop drawing hands and pick up the pot there and then. If playing a live tournament I would certainly fold, but on this site I would also go all in and hope to make Full House if he has the straight. But thats probably why I'm not doing very good on here.

REALLY?

im never folding this in a 50dollar game.
doesthis make me a sh1t player? |
|
By:
one of those where you know you should fold but always insta call. I suppose if it was $1k I'd count to 5 then call anyway.
You have to show them you can't be bluffed. ![]() |

Its quite a tough decision - probably one that depends on situation i guess. If this was a life changing decision, i suppose you would have to fold, but for a $54 daily game, its a call.
Statistically / % wise is it any different to calling an all in pre flop with A7 vs AK or pair between 88 & KK? Would you call A7 for 2500 chips into a 500 + all in pot? |
|
By:
This is the actual way the hand played out. I tweaked it a bit as the player holding 99 tanked before making the call to my all in.
PRE-FLOP salap69 raises to 80, The Klup calls 80, Harryments calls 80, k0elh calls 80, dottore02 calls 80, Kakaschi_x calls 80. So 6 players see the flop! FLOP comes 9S,QD,8H dottore02 checks, Kakaschi_x checks, salap69 bets 250, The Klup (HOLDING J10) raises to 2,670 and is all-in, Harryments folds, k0elh calls (Holding 99) All others fold. J10 survives the turn and river. As mentioned above, what got me thinking about this hand is that k0elh ran down the clock before making the call with 99. When he showed his cards I wondered why did he take so long. I don't see myself doing anything other than call, even knowing full well that J10 is highly likely to be out there. |

All well and good giving the A7 v AK analogy as you know that JT was out in the hand and therefore that slants your thinking, the guy with his 9's doesnt know the TJ is out there and has to call.
In a $50 tourney in that situation with 99 you are going to be ahead the vast majority of the time and even when you are not ahead you have a fistfull of outs. Calling there is massively +EV in the long run and it is just about always a call unless you have very strong info on the player. |

possibly the worst thread ever on the poker forum

HF - firstly, this has not a hand about me, its about whether or not a guy holding 99 on a Q98 flop should call for his tournament bearing in mind:
1)There are 4 other players still in the pot, and one already all in committed. 2) We are still on level 1 3) There are 5 hands that beat him (4 x J10, and one QQ) and a number more that could be on draws. 4) It is very natural to assume that 6 handed, someone surely could be holding J10 Truthfully, what would surprise you MORE? If J10 was THERE or NOT out there? If you expected J10 would be out there, in theory, don't you have to fold given the pot odds, the tournament level etc? I would not fold 99, i know i wouldnt. Neither would you, doobs or gnashers but surely from a professional aspect, is it not more logical to actually fold? The odds are not hugely different to a situation like this: Pre flop, Level 1, blinds are 10/20, you are holding AJ and the pot is 500 and the player in front of you has just gone all in. Do you call your 2700 chips (for your tourney) with AJ knowing you have three players behind you also waiting to make a decision? I would assume AJ is bound to be behind - wouldnt u? |
|
By:
I was being sarcastic. It's a great post. Of course you should fold 99 in this situation. HF seems to be new to poker.
|

The odds are hugely different in that the AJ will rarely be ahead where as your 999 will be.
If you are frightened of the three yet to play then you are mental because a) They are still unlikely to hold TJ b) Even if they do then you now have the correct odds at you will be getting over 2/1 for your money now. Sorry Klup but you are just plain wrong on this one, it is a call every time. And the chances of one of them having QQ seeing as it was all limpers pre flop is pretty long too. |
|
By:
Beyond poor HF. Maybe people go all in with AQ in the $2 games you play but they don't in $50+
Will clearly be behind with 99. |
|
By:
I don't mean you play $2 games I mean in $2 games generally !
|
|
By:
Interesting.
Your wrong about me playing $2 games, in fact your just wrong. HTH |
