I hear we aren't getting t-shirts?  I am a bit surprise Betfair arent going to provide anything, although I realise we are freerolling here but we dont want to look like the poor cousins do we?  Has anyone got any contacts  for getting some made up?  Bearing in mind the Team Champs thread on the APAT Forum says "Teams participating will be required to provide team shirts for their players and carry a thread and banner about the event on their forum."

Shame bf havent got any of them hoodies left!  [:(]
Report SussexGirl October 6, 2011 10:38 PM BST
I agree with Andy. I'm happy to pay for a Betfair top if necessary. Think we might look a bit odd otherwise. Well even more odd than usual  :)
Report The Klup October 7, 2011 9:07 AM BST
Guys/Girls - Whilst I do see your point re the tops, it is a Forum team and not intended as an official  Betfair team. Last year Betfair asked us to enter a team and we used criteria to set the team up and hence we got half of the buy in and tops.

It is probably all my fault for not making this clear sooner, but just to shed some light on the subject - iliketrips contacted me to let me know about the apat team event and to see if I would enter a team for ILPP this year. When I applied I also asked APAT if i could also enter a (Betfair) forum team. There was no obligation or involvement at all by Betfair - it was intended to be made up of Betfair forumites.

I then asked Betfair if they would contribute as the team and in my opinion they were generous enough to give us the option of sponsored tops or paying the buy in. I opted to go with the buy in. I was then informed that Betfair were expecting some memorabilia to come in and if it arrived in time, they would send it through - but they could not promise. I think we have to be fair here and appreciate what we have been given and not direct any criticism for what we didnt get.

I am happy to organise you tops - will cost about £15-20 depending on choice. If you all agree to pay for your own, I will get them made for you so decide and let me know what style - see link below (could captain dud spud and AJ Cairns) please choose a style bearing in mind Sussexgirl is as the name suggests a saucy lassy [:p] - and inbox me your sizes

The head of Betfair Poker is sending me some of the Material betfair Poker stick on badges so I dont know if we actually need sponsored shirts, if we all had a t-shirt of the same colour with the stick on badges would that be enough?
Report The Klup October 7, 2011 11:29 AM BST
I think that's a good option HF.

My team will be in ILPP T-shirts though :)
Report The Klup October 7, 2011 5:08 PM BST
Hi chaps

We need a replacement for singlecask - he contacted me today and let me know his situation.

Is there any other forumite wanting in?
Report SussexGirl October 7, 2011 8:57 PM BST
Dinos, I'm definitely not criticising anything Betfair have done. They've been extremely generous to pay for the buy in. I think HF idea is an excellent one. How about if we all get ourselves a plain navy blue polo shirt or something like that, which is easily available and then we use the stick on Betfair logos?

I'm more than happy to go along with whatever anyone feels is best, just think we need to make sure we are wearing similar items to represent a team of some sort :)
Report Helmuthian Folds October 8, 2011 11:35 AM BST
I now have the stick on badges in my possesion.

I think plain Orange polo shirts are the way forward for two reasons...  1) Will make us more visible...  2) I already own one!

Navy polo shirts would be fine though, can we please have some feedback?
Report SussexGirl October 8, 2011 3:22 PM BST
Please don't make us wear orange, for the following reasons:

1. Orange is definitely not my colour. I'll look even more grotesque than usual :(

2. It's not the easiest colour to shop around for either. Not many nutters choose to wear orange unless they are forced to.

P.S Even though I do actually mean the above I'll still wear it if I have to, but no rude remarks about us looking like a bunch of satsumas :o)

P.P.S We really need to make a decision fairly soon so we can get what we need in good time.
Report The Klup October 8, 2011 3:34 PM BST
I would suggest you choose either black or white. Not too many different choice of shades makes it easier :D
Report SussexGirl October 8, 2011 3:41 PM BST

Report ajcairns. October 8, 2011 9:29 PM BST
my post wasn't a criticism of bf or anyone else, i see the company on the link that klup put up only does printing for a min of 12 items.  They do some Orange ones though - the black with the orange polo shirts (prefer those to hoodies) look ok for about 10/11 quid.  http://www.logos4clothes.com/polo-shirts/alternative-polos/kustom-kit-sporti...

Report SussexGirl October 8, 2011 9:56 PM BST

Yes Klup, didn't take you long to spot my original post was a wind up, mistergain has been unbearable since his victory in Betfair Forum Games telling everyone he meets he is a world champion, so the aim was to bring him down a peg or two. As you correctly point out he was carried to victory by AJ and Mrs Klup and the swop with Captain Dud Spud meant as the ultimate insult.
Regarding the shirt issue, I agree that we need them, at the moment half of the team is the same as last times earlier this year, I see no reason why the same shirts should not be used and if AlexsDad joins us even better. If he has spare shirts the new players can use these and use the Betfair logo to cover whatever name is printed. You might not look glamerous Sussex Girl, but trust me you'll be spotted in a crowd or yes even in a train tunnel.

The script on the yellow ones we used in Jan reads 'APAT Team Championships 2011 Betfair Forum and persons name,' so is still current. AlexsDad has spares for new players, so if everyone still has them, I think we should use them.

He referred to the ILPP team as the "B" team!

So ... I am putting up a $108 MTT ticket as bounty reward for any ILPP team player who knocks out a Vaino and a $33 ticket on all the other Betfair Forum team members (David Underwood, Mark Heathfield, Andy Cairns, Ted Smith & co!!

So ... 2 dogs, iliketrips, Gilfie, Adam & Sara Mason, Kevin Corcoran & Clive Moore - to find these bounties ... just look for the ripe old LEMONS wearing bright yellow shirts that make the Sun look dull! :D)))))
Report appollo October 15, 2011 4:27 PM BST
Lol nice one Dinos, typical of you to put up nice prize for your 'B' team, when in reality they are unlikely to collect, much more likely of course is that one of the 'A' team will knockout one of the 'ILPP' team. I have a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label, that I will give to any of the 'A' team to send the Klup packing. But if he evades capture and makes the final table, he can have it himself. Anyone else on the Betfair Forum 'A' team that knockouts out a 'ILPP' player can have a couple of drinks from the bar. I'm not as generous or rich as Dinos, but much more likely to pay out.

I'm not planning to hit Luton till about midday, why dont you leave the shirts at the casino Alexsdad, I'm sure they wouldn't mind and you will need to make yourself a member, the casino is open 24 hours.
Despite the banter between the two teams, I sincerely hope that the teams both run good and finish first and second. Both teams have players capable of achieving good results.
I'd like to say a big Thank You to Dinos for again organising the teams and making it all possible.
I'd also like to thank Betfair and I love playing poker for the sponsorship of the event.
The event is a great tournament and is always well run by the APAT and I am proud to be taking part in one of the teams.
I'm looking forward to meeting a few new faces and getting back together with some old friends.
Report SussexGirl October 21, 2011 11:23 AM BST
I totally agree with the above. Hope both teams run good (but we run better of course haha). If you leave the shirts with Tighty at the casino they will be perfectly safe there. He is normally there early to set things up. I'm sure Des will be there as well.  They have just posted the table draw on the apat forum. Hope I'm allowed to post the link here, if not can someone please delete it. They have asked if we can all be there by 1.45 at the latest to sign in and have team photo, so looks like ours might be one short.

So looking forward to this and a big thank you to Dinos and Betfair :o)

As much as I would have loved to play I was not available this weekend. My little un (James 17) visiting as its half term. As a divorcee any time with my boys will always take priority over poker.

Apologies for not posting earlier though I did chat briefly online at the table on wednesday.

The beer/drink offer is still on. Also extended to any of the ILPP team knocking out Dinos too, and to Dinos for organising the entries. Also other forumites posting.

Hope to meet some of you again at a live event soon (so that you can cash in your drink token), as well as those that I have not met before (mainly because my only live tourney was that Betfair live London event where I made quite a few friends by being the bubble boy). You all seem friendly enough on line.

Enjoy the weekend all of youSilly!

As for team photos/lateness: both teams probably need an inflatable dummy/doll or even those bright yellow bananas and put the yellow shirt with sticky name tag on so you can quickly find your seats.

Of course, if I were playing, i'd be so tight early on anyway that I'd have same amount of chips as not being there. I'd be waiting for those suited aces.

And apologies for not being so chatty lately. I've had the flu. And had to take more sick leave in October than in the whole of my working life. It's not been good for any on-line poker. I could not concentrate, and have done really silly things like ignoring add-ons or even forgetting to rebuy and then wondering what has happened.

My arrangements for this weekend. Get to King's Cross by 10am (no Victoria Line)! New Malden-Waterloo-Euston and walk. James has no direct train from  Norwich to Liverpool Street, so he has to go via Cambridge.
Meet and get back to New Malden. Drop of gear. Ensure he and I have footie gear. he definitely has 90 minutes. I'll probably have to walk through 90 minutes too. Get a lift to an away match in Chertsey area for 2ko. Back to pub in New malden, chat with football friends (we run two teams). Order food and watch Norwich v Liverpool.

No doubt when we get home he will have X factor on and I'll be on-line reading forum postings here (and on APAT). And then match of the day.

Sunday morning will be breakfast and Rugby World Cup. James will be at Secombe Centre in Sutton for final rehersals (he has volunteered to do back stage scenery work for the week). This is the Scout County Gang Show.
James will no doubt chat to everyone about his 3 weeks at the World jamboree in Denmark, Sweden and Poland during the summer. I'm going to have sunday lunch and watch the Man Utd v Man  City game.

I'll then be picking up on-line how you all are getting on. Silly

James and I will find some time during the week to get the Betfair WSOPE chipset out and play some deep stack Heads Up NLHE. He'll have all his poker gear on, his cool shades for spending summer in lots of sunlight, the shirt, his headphones/music. I'll not even look at my cards and get my reads from his actions. His feet tapping is a dead give away.

I was enjoying a pre match drink at the pub down the road from the venue, when '2 dogs' walked in, the first thing he said was you're heading for a fall pal. He was of course refering to all the banter that has gone off on this forum and facebook regarding the 'A' team v 'B' team challenge. He was quite right, a good judge. About an hour later I was one of the first out, most of the damage being done when my raise with 66 was called by 74, I hit trips but he made a straight on the river, sigh. I was followed unfortunately my one after the other of both the Betfair Forum and ILPP team players. The requirement to get on the scoreboard was to get to the final 50 of the tournament. Not one player from either side managed this. So We can't even claim an honorable 0-0 draw, because in reality it was a massive defeat for both sides. It was very disappointing result but on the upside the tournament was as ever excellently organised, the company fanastic, it was great to make some new friends, as well as renew old aquaintances.
One final achievement over the weekend was when Keith S (late reserve for ILPP) took a 6 way split about 4.30am in the £30 freezeout tournament winning £400.

Good to know that as I now have a bounty to pay and will take joy from that!!

Appollo ... remind Keith S that he needs to share his side event prize with the rest of the ILPP team!

On a serious note, thanks to all who took the time out and made the effort to join in at the weekends festivities. Thank you also to Betfair and finally to any apat organiser who might come across this thread, congrats on a well organised event at an excellent choice of venues!

Back home after a brilliant weekend. Just sorry we didn't manage to actually win anything. If there was a prize for brightest team shirts we would have won that though, and we were nicknamed The Banana Splits lol. Think I came about 70th and Mark did well to last as the longest player in the A team. Just to mention I went out with AK again, for the 4th tournament running. I'm planning on folding this hand at every opportunity in the future. The sickening thing was I had just doubled up the hand before with KK!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Betfair and Dinos for organising the Betfair team. I really hope we enter this event again next year and think the bright yellow shirts made us lose concentration. That's why we didn't win the event haha. Can I put my name down for next year please.  Fantastic venue and event, thanks again.

Well what a sexy team we looked but unfortunately we played utterly pooh!

As others have said big thankyous to APAT for a well organised and enjoyable tourney, to Betfair poker for kindly paying our entry fees and to Klup for being a fat Greek fish! Cool

I really can't remember what on earth I was laughing at in that pic but I'm cringing now. Dunno about the Banana Splits, I looked more like the Cheshire Cat!

Was great meeting some of the team at the weekend, I played for the APAT Forum Team on the same table as Ted (Gnasher) before his exit. Already know Debs (sussexgirl) and Mark (mporter) so was brilliant to catch up with them as well. Hope to see you all again next year, if not before.

Cheers
Grant

alexsdad, I didn't even get to say hello to you, so sorry. How bad is that for a fellow team-mate. Did you disappear quickly or something?
Report Santino1967 October 29, 2011 1:17 PM BST
Just in case Debs thinks she's escaping :~)
