This is a correspondence between customer service and me. I dont expect to get my buy in back, but would be interested to hear what you think of the replies from customer service.

This morning, playing a $80.25 HU match, the system slowed so much that in the third level we had only played a few hands. Suddenly we each had only 10 big blinds and it was bingo. I know it was a super turbo but this was ridiculous, and not what I bought in for. I would like my buy-in returned.

Thank you for your e-mail
Further to your query below, kindly provide the tournament number in question as you played in several this morning. Once we have the number we will investigate if there were any technical problems with htis oparticular tournament and if so take the necessary action. However please note that today we were not experiencing any technical issues from our end.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

Kind regards,

The tournament number is 3832318.

Thank you for your e-mail.
Further to the below query, please note that after doing some investigation I can confirm that there were no issues on our end this morning.
Unfortunately, this indicates that your computer probably needs to have some updates with regards to some critical software, such as your Operating System or Direct-X.

To check for updates for these two pieces of software, kindly copy the address I have provided below and use it to go to the Microsoft updates web page. You will then be asked to follow a few simple procedures so their system will check what updates are needed on your computer. Kindly find the link below:

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/muoptdefault.aspx?returnurl=http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate&ln=en-us

Betfair Poker also requires the latest in Flashplayer as this improves the quality and speed of the lobby and table play itself. Once again, please find below the link that will immediately take you to the download centre for this software:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

Finally, for general troubleshooting, kindly go to our poker website, www.betfairpoker.com and locate the FAQ section of our site, or in turn use the link below:

http://www3.betfairpoker.com/help/faqs/index.html

This section of our website is dedicated to general troubleshooting, such as small but necessary settings that help our poker site run better on your computer, such as switching off the screensaver or adjust the screen resolution. We do hope that your problems will be fixed once completing the procedures indicated in this e-mail and in the meantime, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

You are suggesting that my computer was able to freeze play for both myself and my opponent? Surely if the problem was with my computer, I would have been timed out and my hands folded. This is not what happened. There was a considerable delay between hands. We were both kept waiting. Meanwhile, the clock continued and the blinds increased at an accelerated rate relative to the hands dealt.

Also, the game I played before was normal, as were the many games I played during the day subsequently. This tells me the problem was not with my computer but at your end. I dont need to remind you how frequently the betfair poker site crashes.

Can you tell me please the total number of hands played in the first three levels of this game?

Thank you for your e-mail.

Whilst we understand your frustration in this matter, further investigation revealed the same result as my previous colleagues have advised.

It seems that the game was very quickly dealt with, and through our records can determine that you lost a large portion of your *****within the last hand as follows:

Skraldeba : 3h, 10h
Soubek: 5d, Kd

Flop: Ah, 6h, Jh

Skraldeba calls All In
Soubek calls the All In remaining: 870.00 In *****

Turn: 8s

River: 7h

Skraldeba wins by Flush.

We hope this has clarified the issue, and thank you for playing with Betfair. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

I know how the game ended, thank you.

Could you please now answer my query - how many hands were dealt in the first three levels? Since your records are clearly able to show the detail of the final hand, I am sure you can access this information too.

Thank you for your e-mail.
Kindly note that, exactly 3 hands were dealt in the first 3 Levels.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

3 hands in 3 levels - is he really saying that?
Report Humbert The Priest February 22, 2010 12:55 PM GMT
Yes, eventually that is what the conceded.
Report yer ma February 22, 2010 12:58 PM GMT
So it must of played very slow or one or both of you were disconnecting. Fraid these guys work from scripts, have little game awareness or knowledge so you'll get nowhere. Sry
Report Humbert The Priest February 22, 2010 1:00 PM GMT
I dont think either of us were disconnected; it just froze up for long periods. It really bugs me that they avoid answering the question as long as they can, and insist that there was nothing wrong at their end. Thanks for the reply though.

i would be pushing for a refund and not taking no for an answer here. hu 3 hands in 6 mins (blinds are 2min levels?) is not something wrong with your pc.

try the 2+2 forums, last i heard there was a bf rep on there trying to help ppl and gather suggestions, at worst you'll have a friendly ear from someone who I think understands the game
Report Humbert The Priest February 22, 2010 1:30 PM GMT
Yes, 2 min levels. Thanks Six of Clubs for your suggestion.
Report jamesbeckton. February 22, 2010 1:32 PM GMT
If you regularly play those stakes and kick up a fuss you will gte a refund.
Report Rowland Browning February 22, 2010 1:46 PM GMT
post it as a "what's on your mind" question?
See if Betfair poker's top decision makers have anything to contribute?
Report Humbert The Priest February 22, 2010 1:49 PM GMT
I havent the heart for the battle, and thats what they rely on I presume. I just got another evasive mail from them. It appears the helpdesk deliberatley avoid the uncomfortable issues and then invite you to contact them again if any further questions. I haven't the patience for this going round in circles Its not worth the annoyance. Good luck and thanks for the replies.

of course you have a point

and of course you received their standard response of it's your computer. clear cookies/delete cache

they don't care about existing customers, only new ones. but any new ones become existing ones, get **ed off and leave.

gl trying to speak to someone who knows what poker is and/or can make a decision to refund you
Report Six of Clubs February 22, 2010 1:53 PM GMT
personally i would email them, explaining your position.
then call them, insist on speaking to someone who holds a position of authority in the poker area. repeat as necessary

someone who holds a position of authority in the poker area.

Oxymoron.
Plenty of other kinds around in Betfair Customer Services, but in this case you've hit upon Oxy.
Report annie. February 22, 2010 6:49 PM GMT
I have asked to speak to a supervisor in poker several times, but so far with no joy.
Report chop180 February 22, 2010 7:15 PM GMT
Of course you have a point. As do many others who get fobbed off with their laughable idea of "customer services"

What I cant understand is, you all know what this site is like yet you continue to play here. There are many sites far better so why persist?
Report Lisa Simpson February 22, 2010 7:51 PM GMT
Well for ages there were two answers to that:
Greeks
Cypriots

Now there's only one - when I'm on my laptop I haven't got round to downloading Absolute yet.

Suddenly we each had only 10 big blinds and it was bingo.

I play these full ring on full tilt, start with 300 ***** 15-30 blinds. Must be the betfair equivalent that they forgot to announce or publicise.
Report Simon Phoenix February 22, 2010 8:34 PM GMT
couldn't see you ever getting a refund here. just an unlucky situation. if they admitted fault then they have to refund everyone else playing at that time
Report lewsi hamilton is a genius February 22, 2010 8:45 PM GMT
just vote with your pocket. Betfair is a great for betting but awful for poker. dont any play the site again it is a joke.

Who plays poker on here still must want there head looking at. Thing is if they had a good poker site they would do really well but they seem more keen to upgrade arcade/virtual horses.

Some one in betfair towers refuses to accept defeat of there poker site you ask 90% of betfair punters if not more they will all tell you they used to play poker on here but have moved.

DON'T EVER PLAY ON HERE AGAIN .

In the interest of fairness, I should post that after a little more dialogue, I got an apology and a satisfactory gesture of compensation. I still maintain the complaints process was tortuous and infuriating, but am pleased the matter was eventually resolved. Thanks all for your replies.

it's poor that to get a result you need to shame them on the forum
Report Simon Phoenix February 23, 2010 6:09 PM GMT
chop why are u always on this type of thread, acting smug and looking down on ppl who have an issue to bring up, like you are the only person on earth to realise bf's cs is pants.

This is a forum, so generally these issues will get discussed on here. Don't worry, you are not some wizard of master knowledge because u know betfair offer shoddy CS, we all know this. Doesn't mean ppl can't have a whinge about it and get others views.

I said they would sort it out if you pressured them.
Report chop180 February 23, 2010 6:21 PM GMT
SP, you are talking crap. I was taking the rise out of betfair, in case you were too stupid to notice. I don't "act smug" or "look down" on anyone. Yes, I do wonder why people still stay given the almost daily displays of legendary incompetence, but that is their choice.

Maybe you could point to an example where I have said something out of order?
Report Simon Phoenix February 23, 2010 6:32 PM GMT
can't remember exactly, but it was a whinging thread and I was whinging and you picked me up saying something along the lines of there are other poker sites available out there, like i was some kind of muppet. Now I am a muppet on many issues, but poker I'm fairly confident on.
Report chop180 February 23, 2010 6:37 PM GMT
So you were moaning about betfair, and I said you should look for a different site (as I have done to many others in the same way), and that justifies you being abusive to me?

Nice. :|
Report Six of Clubs February 23, 2010 6:37 PM GMT
that chop is a right nasty fellow, at the forum game he gave me a shifty look, then afterward he kidnapped my dog and sold it to the local chinese restaurant.
one time he refused to help an old lady over the road, and another time i saw him scratching his balls in public.

a most unsavoury character imo

abusive? haha calm down sweetheart! I play many other sites but i keep coming back for the fish
Report yeasty February 23, 2010 8:45 PM GMT
I just don't get people who say "don't play on Betfair".

Whilst the customer service is average at best and the site has intermittent software issues, the games (especially the SNGs) are so soft that they comfortably outweigh these negatives.

I'd encourage anyone I know that was competent to play here. More than enough fish. If you lose on here then poker ain't for you...
