Hi,

This is not a bad beat thread, coz chit happens and im sure i have flopped a set once or twice

1 prize only which is a ticket into the 40k gted on Sunday, so no prize for 2nd, Scottie has raised just about every button

just had a discussion with another friend about the hand and we cant agree on a single decision that i made in the hand

i like the way I played it, bearing in mind I want maximum value

(3rd time i have had AA by the way and never won more than the blinds)

Re raise pre , if he calls you youre going busto.
Report Dooberama February 18, 2010 8:44 PM GMT
Once you have decided to trap, I don't know why you check min raise the flop. You basically get him to fold all his bluffs.

I'd reraise here pre. He is likely to put you on something marginal anyway, button vs SB. But I think you get stuffed whatever you do, as he 4 bets his 5s then hits.

I had raised twice with AA this game, and got nowt, I had made the decision to trap him, and 3 5 6 is just about a dream flop IMO

raise pre and you'll win more than the blinds
also raise pre more if they keep folding to your raises
and as doob says, check raising that flop isn't great.

I would have played exactly the same most the time you extract max value now and again you go broke. you play it slower and take the risk which you did you can't grumble sh@t happens. More often than this you win a big pot though.

Nowt wrong IMO if you played this 100 times about 40 times you win a small pot
40 times you win a decent to big pot
20 times you get shafted.

The discussion i had with my friend was based around me raising pre, if i make it 1100, i trumpet my hand to the world, if i make it $1500 im committed anyway and if i push he may fold, so it was my intention to trap on any raggy board

I can get away if it comes something silly like JQK TJK or KKx QQx JJx
Report Dooberama February 18, 2010 9:05 PM GMT
you have AA, why wouldnt you want to be committed??
Report J3w3ll3r February 18, 2010 9:09 PM GMT
I do, but i want to extract value from someone that raises every button

The point i made was if i make it 1500 and he calls, its just harder for me to fold on the flop, if the flop is ugly
Report Dooberama February 18, 2010 9:13 PM GMT
There simply isn't a flop that exists that would get me looking to fold AA having put 1500 in pre.
Report J3w3ll3r February 18, 2010 9:14 PM GMT
Exactly.....hence my flat pre..
Report plum February 18, 2010 10:49 PM GMT
given table conditions and the original raiser i would play it just the same, nothing wrong with that at all
