I know we have a few tennis afficionados here, but surely Federer is a great price to beat Murray

How annoying is his mum?
Report checkAA_ January 31, 2010 9:01 AM GMT
what point does murray start faking injury ?
Report dibble January 31, 2010 9:09 AM GMT
VERY annoying keith.

but I hate this trend of cutting to relatives, girlfriends, etc. SHOW THE GAME.... i don't care about how his mum is feeling.

oooooh - rat-boy can't get near Fed's serve hsahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Report dibble January 31, 2010 9:10 AM GMT

i'd be happy if they showed his mum......... after every pt where murray makes an unforced error
Report DANGERO January 31, 2010 9:43 AM GMT
Woefully bland commentators are tilting me.

Personality bypasses

Dibs, Murray is British therefore you have to cheer for him
Report dibble January 31, 2010 9:49 AM GMT
sorry Dangero. no chance.

and haaaahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
:D
Report DANGERO January 31, 2010 9:53 AM GMT
wtf...

Do you cheer for USA to win the Ryder cup too?
Report dibble January 31, 2010 9:55 AM GMT
nah - that's a team sport. this is individual sport and I've not no more association with this chump than I do with federer.
Report DANGERO January 31, 2010 9:56 AM GMT
You are British
Report Soap January 31, 2010 10:00 AM GMT
If Sue tells me about fkin country tracks 1 more time ................. :D
Report dibble January 31, 2010 10:03 AM GMT
that is a statement of fact si yes but imo has no bearing on whether I choose to support any given indvidual in any given individual event.

here, I hope he loses.
Report DANGERO January 31, 2010 10:06 AM GMT
What about the Olympics?

They are individuals as part of 'Team GB'

Or are you cheering for the German to beat Chris Hoy?
Report Soap January 31, 2010 10:07 AM GMT
Dangero, it is very understandable given Murrays anti English commenst in the past that some British people would not support him, especially non Scots.
Report Soap January 31, 2010 10:08 AM GMT
several of my friends think he is a complete cnt as result of this and want whomever he plays to beat him.
Report dibble January 31, 2010 10:09 AM GMT
lol - this is exactly the point.

in the olympics they're representing GB. In the ryder cup, they're representing GB.

do you only support footballs teams with british players?

you support what the team represents, not the individuals - it's a team sport.

in tennis, it's individuals representing themselves. I'll support who-ever i decide to support for whatever reason :)
Report dibble January 31, 2010 10:10 AM GMT
*europe including GB obv
Report DANGERO January 31, 2010 10:10 AM GMT
I know but all British sportsmen are part of 'Team GB' in all sports so I support them regardless.

The Scots are handy anyway. They hate us, we laugh at them and occasionally cheer for them if they are good.
Report dibble January 31, 2010 10:11 AM GMT
and we can lose that horrific americanism "Team GB" pretty sharpish too.

btw, on another topic... did you hear Alistair Campbell's suggestion to Tony Blair as to how he should start a speech to Parliament on the Iraq war? (as reported by Peter Hain - cabinet minister at the time I think)

"hello fellow americans" :D

don't think blair was best pleased lol
Report McCoy Carp January 31, 2010 10:11 AM GMT
Listen, we're English, and if you're lucky you're Southern English. Now, I'm watching Coronation omniibus, with a stinking hagover, but I hope Murray wins.

If any mention of injury in subsequent interview from Murray he should be banned for rest of season.

Outclasses and lacked bottle once again when mattered, however well done on decent tournie and progress is progress.

what comments were those

if you mean a reporter and henman taking the **** asking who scotland were playing in the 2006 WC and then murray replying whoever is playing england when then asked who he'd be supporting

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Report aristonandon January 31, 2010 11:39 AM GMT
im usually the first to chip at the moaning scottish guy but I thought he played well just Fed is a god and upped his game. On a few key points Fed clipped the line and Murray just missed.Didn't choke for me this time was just beaten by the better man

No way should that have been a 3-0 match imo and maybe Murray will win many slams in the future (when Fed retires ofc).
Report canaryboy January 31, 2010 11:42 AM GMT
murray played one choke point on the forehand down the line but excusable

fed had some fortune with miss hits and net cords

fed didn't do much wrong and murray doesn't have the weapons to blow him off court
Report Soap January 31, 2010 11:53 AM GMT
Canary

I was exaplining the reasons, was not stating whether I agreed with them or not.

as RAFA would say - these are FACTS
Report Soap January 31, 2010 11:54 AM GMT
and Murray played 2 choke points at set point imo.
Report canaryboy January 31, 2010 11:59 AM GMT

lol if you think the backhand volley was easy

and you stated the anti english comments as fact...
Report canaryboy January 31, 2010 12:00 PM GMT
the reasoning would therefore be people of a limited intelligence
Report Whyyy..ssoooo...sssseriouss? January 31, 2010 12:00 PM GMT
he does have the weapons, he just doesn't use them often enough. it seems im alone in thinking it could've been 2-1 murray rather than 3-0 fed but on most the big points he either didn't pull the trigger or was slightly unlucky.

he truly did bottle that 3rd set though.
Report Six of Clubs January 31, 2010 12:13 PM GMT
its hard for a leopard to change its spots and murray will always be a little too defensive imo in these big matches. i guess thats the diff between good and great, being able to change up your game when it counts.
Report MC Roller January 31, 2010 3:30 PM GMT
Enjoy the win you bitter bstards. ;)

Seriously though, it was hard to watch that. Outclassed again, although there was some fight there this time, only to ruin it in the 3rd set.

Well done fed backers. Murray will be back. COME ON.
