What limit cash stakes can one comfortably play with a bankroll of, say, $1k?

Suppose the safe answer would be $.10c/$.20c but i think if your good enough $.25c/$.50c should be ok.
If i knew i was a good competant winning player i can't see me going broke at $1-2
