My POKER aims:

- My first priority is to clear any debts that I owe. I hate being in the red rather than in the black.

- Get back to the halcyon days where I used to make £10k+ a month from cash games.

- I need to make at least £100k sterling profit this year or I might as well take up knitting.

- My real long-term goal is to build a roll big enough to be able to attack $10/$20 again, however I know this is gonna take longer than a year realistically (unless I manage to strike gold against a few late night ATMs and run good for a while).

- Continue my 100%+ ROI in Multis and play more higher buyin mtts. Since I have been playing poker, my mtt results have been consistently by far the biggest earner for me, and it's pretty obvious that it's only 'a matter of time' before I hit a big payday or three. For this reason, the quicker I get back to playing mtts with $50k+ prizepools or higher, the better.

- Once I am back on track cash-wise, I definitely want to be playing some proper live events.

- I also want to end up playing live at least once every couple of weeks just to become comfortable in a live environment.

Life aims: To spend some time abroad, in a relaxed place, a beach condo or someting, and do some travelling. I would also be pretty happy if I could repay everyone that has helped me out in various ways over the years somehow or other.

1/ Don't tilt

2/ Don't play on carp poker sites that are full of gamblers getting paid off with silly cards (make your own guesses)

3/ Stick to my favourite poker site where I've always done well (again own guesses)

4/ Don't tilt (again)

I meant to update this monthly, but my PC went busto at the end of January and I couldnt be assed in February as it took me ages to get back up to date after fixing it.

Overall,
1. make £3k a month. I said £5k this year and didn't make it, so will set my sights lower.

I was about 2k abouve this at the end of March. But I haven't played much last week, and won't play much this week, so after Easter will probably be barely above target.

2. Play less poker and work more. After too many months this year spending my days looking after a baby and nights playing poker, I just need to get out more. Work is an easy way of doing this and the income is a little more reliable. I think losing the mortgage etc drain from the bankroll may make me relax/play better when I play.

Failed miserably, it is very difficult to find work at the moment, so am still relying on poker. Thank **** my shares have started going up.

3. Pay £25k off the mortgage through work/poker.

Fail. I guess I may pay some off if I get a big cash, but so far only normal monthly repayments.

Cash

4. Make 4 poker tracker BBs/100 hands.

After a tilty spell from the middle of February to beginning of March, I am averaging just above 2. But I seem to have got a lot of set ups this year, so maybe this isn't so bad. Hopefully I can get it back up to 3 by the next update.

5. Avoid 10/20 unless on a heater. I mentioned this on a thread yesterday. Long run I should only make 1.3 BB/100 hands according to pokerEV. For that I get a whole load of variance and bad days when I have shipped thousands.

I have only played 64 hands of 10/20 this year and ran well, so have stuck to this pretty well. I have also run well when steping up to 5/10. I have probably been helped by the bigger games dying a bit. There seems very little 5/10 and 10/20 some days, and though I don't play cash there, ip oker isn't much better either.

By contrast my 5 BB/100 hands at 2.5/5 is a nice pleasant upslope, with my biggest downswing ever only about $5k or so. Playing $10/$20 is stupid in the circumstances.

lol, I forgot I wrote this. I think my current downswing at 2.5/5 9 seaters is something like 20 buy ins. I did look at my 15 biggest pots and 12 were probably unavoidable set ups, and I am probably been a little harsh on another one. But two were really bad calls for 2 buy ins each.

By contrast I have been doing well at 6 seats this year, which is a pleasant surprise.

There was also a side aim which was to get above EV for the year. I am a few hundred up ve EV at Hold Em, after been 4k down in January, but down a few hundred at Omaha. I'd be happy to be like this at the year end.

MTTs
6. Simply run better than last year. On my two biggest cashes I lost when ahead near the end last year and I lost two 50/50s very late on in big sats. Hopefully I can also get my roi at 50%+ or so for the year.

I must have run pretty well this year, definitely better than this year. I clearly ran well when I won the 11k, but didn't get particularly lucky in my 55K 2nd (I did get a suckout for half a stack, but also lost a race for 3/4s), and I continue to run horrible in big live events. I lost all 5 all ins (me or oppo) at the final table of a side event in Austria, I think the worst I was in any of them was 45%. I can't remember the last race I won in a big buy in event.

7. Cash in a live tournament with a buy in of £1k+

:( I don't know how many I have left this year, probably Thanet, maybe WSOP, a WSOPE event and maybe London EPT if I qualify.

STTs

8. Get in the top 20 for year on bf. $7k was all it took in 2008 and that should be easy enough

9. Get that sharkscope graph positive and roi positive.

More or less given up on betfair STTs. Am up just over £1k on normal STTs, here and elsewhere. I threw away more than this on D2Ns, and had a bad run in heads ups which set me down a few hundred there. Maybe I'll do better on ip oker, but will probably just aim to keep the ip oker one positive.

Finally

10. Don't go busto

Thought I'd update this

I can't be assed with the monthly ones, so will do a monthly or occasional update here.

Everybody is welcome so long as they try and update monthly and keep abuse off the thread.

Monthly updates was an epic fail!

Main Aims

Overall,
1. make £3k a month. I said £5k this year and didn't make it, so will set my sights lower.

I made £54K in the end, but that probably doesn't tell the whole story. The first 5 months were pretty grim at times and I only made £9K. That was followed by 6 months where I ran superhot and made £50K. I finished with my worst month sinbe early 2008 when I lost £6K.

2. Play less poker and work more. After too many months this year spending my days looking after a baby and nights playing poker, I just need to get out more. Work is an easy way of doing this and the income is a little more reliable. I think losing the mortgage etc drain from the bankroll may make me relax/play better when I play.

Failed miserably. I ended up playing more than the year before.

3. Pay £25k off the mortgage through work/poker.

I just managed this at the year end through winning £15K in a st ars tournament and effectively using it all to pay down the mortgage. I added a bit more, as I figured I don't need as big a poker bank now I am working, and sold a few shares to top it up.

Cash

4. Make 4 poker tracker BBs/100 hands.

Way off. I think I was actually negative by around May. I finished with just shy of 2.

5. Avoid 10/20 unless on a heater. I mentioned this on a thread yesterday. Long run I should only make 1.3 BB/100 hands according to pokerEV. For that I get a whole load of variance and bad days when I have shipped thousands.

By contrast my 5 BB/100 hands at 2.5/5 is a nice pleasant upslope, with my biggest downswing ever only about $5k or so. Playing $10/$20 is stupid in the circumstances.

I didn't play $10/$20 much at all, and ran pretty much OK when I did. I did very well at $5/$10 and $1/$2 and actually finished down on the year at $2.5/$5. If you are going to run bad, far better to do it at $2.5/$5 than $10/$20.

MTTs
6. Simply run better than last year. On my two biggest cashes I lost when ahead near the end last year and I lost two 50/50s very late on in big sats. Hopefully I can also get my roi at 50%+ or so for the year.

Easy pass. From 30 odd attempts, I won, was 2nd and 3rd twice in the big Sunday here. In addition I won the $50 rebuy on ip oker and was 2nd in a 1000 runner $50 rebuy on st ars. My ROI was less than 50%, but with a lot of turbos and no big live cashes that would be a very tough ask. Excluding turbos, it was probably well above 50%.

7. Cash in a live tournament with a buy in of £1k+

Failed, but only played 5. I got close in 1, and lost a couple of 50/50s when flying in another. I probably played consistently well in them, and got a £2800 cash in a lesser tournament, so I am not going to lose much sleep.

STTs

8. Get in the top 20 for year on bf. $7k was all it took in 2008 and that should be easy enough.

Failed miserably, I was up overall including ip oker, but it was pretty much a waste of tables. I'd say I should quit D2Ns and superturbos. But it is the 7th day of the year and have played one of each already. So much for resolutions.

9. Get that sharkscope graph positive and roi positive.

Well I did get it positive and the roi back to zero at times. But fell back each time I did it.

Finally

10. Don't go busto

I ran bad/played bad at the start of the year, which corresponded with all my shares crashing through the floor. But at the end of the year, I ran well/played well and the shares recovered. So all is good.

11 later down was something like run +EV at cash. Even though I don't have my tracker and EV program in front of me, I am pretty sure I ran so well later in the year, that there is a good chance I managed this.

Hopefuly 10 out of 10 at the end of the year.

I think I ended with 6 from 11. But I made the profit target and made the mortgage target, which were the important ones.

I guess next year I just have to get that cash in the £1K tourney to make up for 2009.

1) Win 1/2 i won this year.
2) Qualify for WSOP
3) Cash in 1 of 2 GUKPTS will play

Some fails for Lee !!!

1) FAIL - 1/2 of previous year was 36K and instead i made 26K, had hit target 6 monthsinto year and dropped 10K over last 6 month.

2) FAIL as written - i played a few sats and did not qualify, however in end I could not play
as choose to take Sabbatical from work instead, aimed to qualify for Macau instead which i succeeded in doing.

3) FAIL - I played Newcastle GUKPT (KK into AA) and isntead of 2nd GUKPT played EPO instead where I was 30th but only 18 paid.

Stay off Omaha Cash Tables where I lose every time

Qualify & play some events now I am single

Be Top 5 in IPN profit for 2010

Don't get too aggressive with big stack near MTT end - less Gus Hansen tricky plays which rarely come off

Be more selective of opponents on h/u STT & show any sort of a profit

My immediate aim is to break out of this losing run. Have horrendous losing runs at horses, poker, football that are so hard to break out of. On a side note, try and get back into golf. Good luck all with your aims.

Took me until April to finally break out of losing run. Played 2 rounds of golf. :(

Aims for the year

1. Be very disciplined with my bankroll management

Pretty much yep

2. Post records each day on profit challenge thread

No, don't know what hapopened to that as i think this is a good discipline to have

3. Make an effort to qualify for a big live comp

Never got the chance. The only one I tried for was the Aussie Millions and got donked late on

4. Win one of the big Sunday comps

It always seems to be on at a poor start time for me so didn't get to play it that often

5. Be profitable in every form of the game I play

Getting there. MTT's, NL cash (6 & 9 handed) and Omaha now profitable. STT's virtually there.

Took a while to work out Omaha and it cost me a good few pounds and I feel like I got there in the end. However it really helped my NL game so I suppose I can't complain. Made money overall so it can't be all bad.

6. Play more live

Nice win when pwning Doobs at the Betfair charity game but only played a handful. Really good record live so far shame I don't get the time
