Whooops pressed enter.

Any tips or advice on what the best way to qual for live games is i.e WPT.ukipt etc or smaller ones. I don't really know much about live poker ie. Qual which games to play were to go and best games to go for.

I have played live once and cashed wsope but would like to play 5-10 times this year and test the water a bit.

Any advise welcome

TIA

Deckie

DTD is a great place to start... they have 80K monthly games and a cheaper 20 20 series mate...

Its an excellent live venue to play at - and ample parking etc - and food establishments, club nearby.

You can qualify on line to those events, and very often the satelites have great value. If you win a seat and cant make that weekend, they happily move your seat to another month or another player.

If you come this way, drop me a line and i could meet you.

Also i played the GUKPT manchester event last year and it was brilliant. it worth a look see ... and you can qualify only via Blue Sq.

DTD or Blue Sq dont do cake back - just VIP structure. Links to both are on my site - or email me and i will send you details

qualifiers for the epts/aussie millions/wsop etc are softest on betfair. they only usually have 1 or 2 seats in each but if you play them all and are half decent you will always get a seat for less than the package costs. usually big overlays in them as well.

gukpt qualifiers on blu sq but are not as soft as many of the regs play and try and get in on the cheap. sometimes nice overlays but not very often. the gukpt qualifiers are only held on blu sq and not any other skin on the netwrk.

dtd is the best live venue in uk and probably europe. never played on the online sit for qualifying but before any major events they always have live supersats with massive overlays. they would rather give away the money in sats than have an overlay at the live event.

st ars qualifiers have the most seats but are by far the trickiest to win packages at. the business end of the tournament will always have a lot of people playing to correct satelitte strategy. still value in them but not as much as bf or blu sq. the new uk and ireland poker tour that they are running looks to have had good numbers in the first event in glaway and may be worth watching.

dtd do have big overlays in their sats, they are prob the maddest/worst sats going tho, saying that i won one for last monts £150 game for £5 :)

i played 2 sats on blue square to get into GUKPT ... and picked up a 1700 quid package for $12

DTD - i deff have won 4 times the value when ive played to qualify. eg: spent around 80 quid for every 336 quid seat ive won.

I dont play often enough, as time away from the house have made live games an issue, but this year likely to be easier.

Also Deckie ... why not try the Betfair Vienna one ... I bought my package from bethammer, and there are a few betfair MTT regulars going, so its bound to be fun :D

You could possibly buy a package for around 400 (as most of the value in the package lies in the accomodation and food and shuttle service) the buy in to the main event is only around 200 euros - so it should be easy enough to negotiate a price.

When i check cost of flights a couple weeks back, it was only around 70 quid return

Cheers some gd tips.

DTD looks gd and is only 1hr away from me in Mawsley near Kettering. Looking at schedule will play in one before i go back on 4th.

UKIPT looks good also. I only play on BF and Stars (Same alias Spider Deck) mainly BF will have to go for them SATS, gona try for Vienna also

Which events are ranking events i.e recorded on player data bases mob etc?

I enjoyed live poker more than i did on line TBH so want to get n to it a bit more.

live is always good, but horrible when you're knocked out a bit early and have to sit back waiting for friends or with noone to lurk with

always the cash games to play imo

The UKIPT sats look ludicrous to me. I saw some final sats for $500 or so in, when the buyin was only £500. I don't know what the split of hotel/spends was, but it just looked crazy regardless. I know in the London EPT it was compulsory to pay £300 for a hotel in London which struck me as a little rude, so I didn't play the sats.

GUKPT sats seem pretty soft to me, and you are free to spend any additional cash as you like. I'd say they are definitely weaker than betfair ones, but that shouldn't be a surprise on ipoker. They do seat only sats from memory, but I can't tell you the schedule.

I also recommend the ECPT sats on ip oker which were really really soft, though again you get the st ars problem why you are forced to overpay for your hotel and other stuff. I am guessing a lot of the other irish open sats etc aren't going to be as strong as sta rs either.

I have just remembered, I played a handful of sat s on ip oker for the macau tourney soap played in. The standard in them was really bad, and it was only getting badly donked twice that stopped me getting two seats.
