Yes mate.

10 table tourni. (90 runners) although they expect 300 Danish players to turn up with minutes to spare.

£1000 entry, with a guaranteed £4000 prizepool.

Sorrel Mizzi playing on tables 1,4,7 and 3.

Greek team playing together on every table.

5 minute clock with blinds starting at 300/50 (10,000 starting stack)

I did email Betfair to find out exactly where the location is and what the start time was, but they mailed back saying that due to the Data Protection Act they couldn't give me those details.

:) :)

Just waiting for reply giving more info, Cos the link they sent was a brilliant link with the betair logo on. lol

Shame if theres no cash alternative (Which I very well doubt) Or the possibility to sell it and let someone else try
Report ladycarla November 19, 2009 1:51 PM GMT
Why would the greatest want to sell his sit? you're 1.01 to win it!!
Report jamesbeckton. November 19, 2009 1:52 PM GMT
i'd like to play though tbf I don't play that much on the site anymore. When I did though I was never invited to these anyway.
Report Bamboo November 19, 2009 2:09 PM GMT
Had a free bar last year :-)
Report 5LEEPWALKER November 19, 2009 6:08 PM GMT
Cos its approx 200 miles from manchester to london

Oh no james beckton

And its a free bar this year too
Report 5LEEPWALKER November 20, 2009 6:30 PM GMT
80 entrants starting with 4,000 ***** Looks like a good game. But there is NO cash alternative, Nor am I able to transfer / Sell seat

I'd have to travel 200 miles, And possibly be in london for upto 3 days as I'd have to leave the day before the game. So it looks like it's down to 79 entrants already and maybe less if others dont go

But with no cash alternative or options to transfer / Sell the seat to another player, It looks like it's going to waste

What torney is this sleepwalker? how did u qualify? And why would you have to spend 3 days there? How long did u queue for the X factor?
Report Jim Hensen November 20, 2009 7:37 PM GMT
surely you could find 3 days in between auditions? PS - train is 2 hours 15 mins now, and can be had for less than £50 return.

Does the game clash with the X factor final?

I thought you could convert your Betfair points into luxury Air Miles. You must have enough that they will blast you down south from a cannon or something.

i was there on sat and it was a complete farce, on the final 2 tables 16 left, 3 betfair staff on one table and none on the other, being fair they had played well, but apparently they had made it known on their table that wherever they came they couldnt cash so just to take it easy as the top 12 would cash (normally 9)dependent on if they were still in, the other table were unaware of this and when 2 went out on that table to leave 14, one player went over and didnt play a hand until 2 more had been eliminated, one blinded out on the bf staff table and one on the other table, then the guy told the table what was going on. Also there was more than the people there who won entry via the freerolls, some bf staff mates were there plus people who had been invited to haydock, ascot the week before, they had been asked along to try and made it quite clear that they dont play bf anymore but get all these freebies as they know people and they are wanted back. apart from that the people, bf staff were great and the free booze was flowing all night.
Report alexsdad November 30, 2009 10:11 AM GMT
the guys who went out between 17 and 12 who didnt know were moaning like hell but no-one took any notice and were told basically that it was the same for all but when they pointed out the discrepency with the bf staff on one table and none on the other and asked the playeres if they were aware and no one on that table was apart from the player who had gone over, they got a 'sorry about that thought everyone knew', ye like they announced it at the beginning. NOT
Report McCoy Carp November 30, 2009 1:09 PM GMT
I was there and throughly enjoyed it. First time I've ever played live. I went out in either 16th or 17th and if I'd had realised it paid to 12th I might have played differently, but I think naivety got the better of me. It's easy to see stack sizes and positions on a computer, not so easy if you've never played live before. I made one donk play and lost half my 12,000 stack, then had to push with qt suited and got called behind me with AJ which held up and I was gone. The hospitality was amazing tho and it was all very friendly. Great buffet, free booze all day - not that I like that sort of thing ;)
Many thanks to Betfair, and, those who live relatively close who qualified and didn't go, you must want your brains testing! All that hospitality and $20k in prize money, all for nothing? It's a no brainer. (rockme)

this is what really annoys me about betfair i have probably been one of their most loyal customers and have rak ed them thousands and thousands yet i have never beeen invited to a live tourney i have never been invited to a cricket match i have never been invited to the races! in fact ive never even had a phone call or an email!LOL i know quite a few ppl who rak e a hell of a lot less than me and they get invites! maybe now ive stopped plying betfair poker they will make some effort but somehow i very much doubt it
Report 5LEEPWALKER November 30, 2009 10:58 PM GMT
I didn't think I'd be reading about any farce, And also wasn't aware there'd be any betfair staff playing. But I was informed that there'd be 80 entries in the game with 4,000 starting ***** So I suppose any of the opposition being staff shouldn't really make a difference. But that seems a bit dodgy what I was reading about the farce

I believe the betfair staff all had bountys on thir heads - $400 a time so more value for everyone else. They couldnt win any prize.

That is correct.

I had a great time....

A great day out, met a bunch of interesting people against a backdrop of
a Free bar and poker tournement. Definitely one of life's Good days.

Please pass on my thanks to Rachel, Simon and all the Betfair staff who organised it and a double thankyou for inviting me.

P.S.
I'm so surprised to see somebody refer to it as a farce !? I suspect you approach life's journey with an extreme case of "Glass half empty" syndrome. I'm glad I'm not you.

P.P.S.
Hello Rockme, ( I sat on your right on table 6 for a few hours )

P.P.P.S.

How do they decide who to invite on these shindigs?
Report jamesbeckton. December 1, 2009 6:08 PM GMT
They pick people who only play freerolls or never play above 5.5$
Report Simon Phoenix December 1, 2009 6:31 PM GMT
Ah well, maybe they can organise a similar event for PAYING CUSTOMERS next time.
Report McCoy Carp December 2, 2009 10:17 AM GMT
