Hi

I have a HD tv and want to run my laptop through it so I can view my laptop on the tv. Can anyone tell me what connectors I need and whether you can get a keyboard to control the laptop from a distance?

Thanks
Pause Switch to Standard View Keyboard for viewing laptop on tv?

HDMI cable for audio\video assuming the laptop has HDMI output.

If you are doing it so you can watch movies from your laptop then consider doing the job properly and buy a home media server.

Bluffdaddy is saying what Treble endorses from another thread.

It sounded right to me.

Are you accusing me of plagiarising basic AV info, sir ?

lol no. I was referring to the media center advice. which is what Treble written about in a fair bit of details the other day, and your words albeit shorter concur. Though it is fair of you to assume that i might be alluding to that, given that you are prone to talking bollux from time to time ;-)

Why not just get an extra long HDMI cable? then you can still have your laptop handy while watching the tv screen

There's actually a 3rd option for those of you that have one of the new Internet TVs. For those that don't, you will within a couple of years.

I might write some TV software today to test the idea but it should be possible to wirelessly stream any movies stored on your pc directly to the tv quickly and easily, effectively turning your computer into a media server without needing to buy any extra equipment.
