Opposable favourites
In the 7.05 at Folkestone it could pay to take on the likely favourite Big Wave. In his last race it looked as though the new rating of 69 and the drop back to five furlongs was just too much for him looking as though he needs further. At the price of 3.9 I think there is mileage in laying him tonight.

7.05 Folkestone Big Wave - Lay

It may be possible to buy him back at 11 for 35% of your stake to make 65%

In the first at Brighton it could be worth taking on the favourite at 3.9 Tenancy. Just three wins in 35 turf races and a very sketchy overall profile say that the gelding may not be able to produce the form of his recent win in an Apprentice affair. There are some unexposed types in this and with at least five others in the race capable of winning then the percentage call is to Lay at 3.8.

2.15 Brighton Tenancy - Lay at 3.8

In the last race at Newbury at 9.05 tonight I think that we can take on the current favourite Whitecrest. In 26 career races the filly has won just the twice and in 18 handicap races she has won only once. The number of placed efforts suggests that she doesn't always put it all in at the business end of a race. She rides up with the pace or leads so it may well be possible to lay her at a shorter price in running as she has traded very low the last twice 1.22 and 1.61 without winning. Her record makes her a lay for us tonight with us having at least five others on our side.

9.05 Whitecrest - Lay at 4.3 or try and lay shorter in running.

Another Opposable favourite

19 Jun 12 14:02
Another Opposable Favourite today goes in the first at Thirsk where I think in the Novices Stakes that its possible to get the short priced favourite Foray beat. Its just a small field but there are still four that could get the better of the favourite. It possible wasn't the greatest Maiden that he won at Leicester and with three other previous maiden winners on our side along with a horse that has decent form in a class two conditions event on our side then at the odds of 2.94 the percentage call is to Lay.

2.15 Thirsk - Foray - Lay at 2.94

Tonight at Newton Abbott I think that it could be worth taking on the lightly raced favourite in the shape of the Colin Tizzard trained hot pot Merry Terry. The grey gelding seems to go well fresh as shown when winning first time out last season, however that was a bit easier than today's race and he is racing from a mark 8lb higher today. From his new mark he struggled in a Conditional race finishing fourth to Definite Dawn. In his previous completed attempt in open handicap chases he has finished fifth off a mark of 93. The negative is that he goes well fresh but with three of the other four runners winners of open handicap chases the call is to take him on. There are risks involved but the price of 2.46 reflects the risk. He can be run from a prominent position and it may well be able to lay him even shorter in running before the half way stage.

7.40 NA - Merry Terry - Lay 2.46.

Any mistakes and a drift in running could see you buy him back at 7 for 35% of your stake to guarantee a 65% profit regardless.

In the 3.45 a favourite that I think we can take on is the maiden Fama Mac. The gelding doesn't seem to want to put it all in at the business of a race, he was well beaten despite finishing second last time out and is up 3lbs in the weights for his efforts. Still a maiden after 12 flat races and I hope it stays that way after today's race. All of the others are capable of winning this and the percentage call is to oppose.

3.45 Carlisle Fama Mac - Lay at 3.65.

Tonight at Uttoxeter a favourite that I'm taking on runs in the 7.35 race. The Jonjo O'Neil trained Quazy De Joie is trading at around the 2.98 mark. The 8 yo has three wins to his name over fences with the highest winning mark being 103. Since then he has ran creditably in all five races without getting his head in front, suggesting that off a mark of 112 he is currently in the handicappers grip. The race tonight is quite a competitive affair despite just having 6 runners in the field, each runner has a chance in this and we only need one of them to get his head front of Quazy De Joie to get our money. The Jonjo/AP combination will ensure that we get a good price for our lay.

7.35 Uttoxeter Quazy De Joie - Lay at 2.98

Another Opposable favourite

Tonight at Wetherby in the 7.35 race I think the favourite in this race can be opposed. A winner last time out is always a dangerous lay but at the proposed odds and up in class the percentage call is to take on Tears From Heaven. Currently trading at around the 4 mark he has two wins to his name from 17 National Hunt outings, those wins coming in a Conditional Handicap Chase and last time out in a Class Five Handicap Hurdle for lady amateurs. He goes up in Class tonight to a Class 4 and runs from a pound out of the handicap. I reckon that there are at least nine in with a chance in this race and at the odds of 4 the call is to take him on in this, he has just the one win from eleven attempts over hurdles.

7.35 at Wetherby Tears From Heaven - Lay at 4.0

Those who like to hedge their bets. Lay at 4.0 and buy Back at 11.5 in running for 35% of your stake to give you 65% profit regardless of the result.

Hexham is where I will attempt to get another favourite beat this evening, in the 8.15 race. The favourite at the moment is trading at around the 3.7 and is the AC Whillans trained Loch Dhu. Although this is a small field anyone of the six is acpable of winning this contest on their day. The Lay selection has two wins to her name so far both in conditional events and off marks of 89 and 96. Since being upped in the weights she has struggled to get her head in fron despite running a couple of good races, it still looks like the handicapper just has his measure. Last time out she fell three out and has that to get over. All in all the percentage call is to oppose the mare at 3.7.

8.15 Hexham Loch Dhu - Lay

At Haydock Park this afternoon the 2.35 is a really competitive three year old handicap and the current favourite at 4.2 Frog Hollow is well worth taking on in my opinion. He didn't look the easiest of rides on his return when a decent third in a class 3 coming from a fair way off the pace. He will improve for that I'm sure but there are at least 8 others who could win this and up in Class today off the same mark he his worth taking on at the price in this competitive event.

2.35 Haydock Frog Hollow - Lay at 4.2.

If he is off the pace again you could buy Back at 12 and still male 65% your original stake if matched.
