Donald Cerrone  (18-4, 1 NC) vs. Melvin Guillard  (30-10-2, 1 NC)
Ed Herman  (20-8) vs. Jake Shields  (27-6-1)
Yushin Okami  (26-7) vs. Buddy Roberts  (12-2)
Justin Lawrence  (4-0) vs. Max Holloway  (5-1)

Preliminary Card:
Dennis Bermudez  (8-3) vs. Tom Hayden  (8-1)

Ken Stone  (11-3) vs. Erik Perez  (11-4)

Eiji Mitsuoka  (18-8-2) vs. Nik Lentz  (21-5-2, 1 NC)

The rematch no one wanted is finally here! Many people thought that the outcome of the first fight warranted an immediate rematch , myself included.
but hopefully this will go some-way to fixing the traffic jam that is the ufc Lightweight division,  barring a controversial decision in the rematch. at least it should be a great fight again.
i think bendo will utilize a lot of kicks again  and i cant see him changing his game-plan too much from the first fight. he should try and clinch with Edgar who will look to land shots on the inside, and try to use his size advantage in the clinch to ware-down edgar.
edgar i think will try to take bendo down a lot more this time, but i cant see him being be able to keep him down for long.
in his last 3 fights edgar has shown an unbelievable amount of toughness and heart but you gotta wonder how long can he keep taking shots like maynard's uppercuts and hendersons upkick.
i'll probably end up betting on benson again but im surprised he's at 1.58 thought it would be a bit higher than that.
no way i would take shields at 1.4, herman is more than capable of beating jake if he can keep it on the feet, and shields doesnt have the best takedowns.
cerrone/guillard will be interesting at least if it doesnt go to the ground. i think cerrone may have the edge standing but guillard has a lot more power and explosiveness. it all depends on what cerrones gameplan is, hopefully he mixes it up standing then goes for a takedown, he should have a huge advantage on the ground. lawrence should win too, he has a lot of potential and i think the ufc will try and build him up slowly with the fights they are giving him.

your thoughts and picks?

in hindsight I worded it wrong for which I apologize for. I suppose I meant that I get the feeling you ridicule people for liking certain sports like mma for no good reason(although there are others i have seen on the boxing forum which are much worse) and get very defensive when you think people are attacking boxing. i got nothing against you but you seem to have a hard time accepting that i like boxing and mma. so we cool? Happy

just because you do not agree with me that boxing aint dead dont please mate try and score cheap points.
i dont agree that it is dead, my point was merely that its declined significantly in popularity, although it's probably getting more exposure these last couple of years which is good. as it could be taking lessons from the growth of mma

Hendo is going to tare him a new ass! dominated the 1st fight and will do even more so this time around, looked as fresh in the 5th as he was in the 1st round, cant see him holding onto this title for quite some time,he is a beast, cant stand all frankies b1tching and moaning about how he won the fight and how he is still the real champMischiefMischief hope he gets knocked out!

think the favorites will all win on the main card, all look solid

evening. guillard weighed in overweight by 2 pounds, he must of had a hard cut, could affect his stamina if it goes 3 rounds.

i reckon rory will struggle at the higher end of the division, especially against strikers who he cant take down, i think they are still fighting though the date has just moved i think.

By:

When: 12 Aug 12 03:06
reckon he can pretty much take anyone down, look at diaz now, great striker and on a tare, but rory destroyed him
By:
razz
When: 12 Aug 12 03:10
diaz was tiny at welterweight and isn't exactly known for his takedown defence though. he looked like he didnt want to strike with che mills either.

going with lawrence here

29-28?
By:
razz
When: 12 Aug 12 04:22
the first was close shields edged it with the takedown but judges must of given that one to herman
By:
razz
When: 12 Aug 12 04:27
i think cerrone will have the advantage wherever this goes, he's a lot more technical than guillard striking. apparently when they trained together cerrone would have the upper hand sparring
By:
ArmchairIdiot
When: 12 Aug 12 04:28
Guillard wins by KO. Cerrone is chinny IMO.
By:
ArmchairIdiot
When: 12 Aug 12 04:29
I hate Cerrone.
By:
razz
When: 12 Aug 12 04:32
they share a common opponent in jeremy stevens and guillard barely edged the decision and cerrone destroyed him
