Nibali's going to attack on the descent here and Van den Broek's going to attack up La Toussoire, so Rolland is still a massive lay. Im maxed out, and if Rolland wins I'll need Wiggins top 3 to turn a profit.

Roland was v.impressive last year when Contador caught him, but he wa able to ride away and still win. The gap has gone from 2 mins to 3 mins, of course Rolland is gonna shorten.

Its a similar stage to Alpe d'Huez as well, plus his directeur sportif said he was going to drop everyone today. But he's done so much work and the bunch behind have to move. Nibali attacks on the descent, Sky will ramp it up on the final climb and VDB will attack from there. They need a lot more than they've got imo.

Rolland is a serious climber, much harder to take 3 minutes from him than from the normal breakaway merchants, all depends on whether Sky need to chase and I'm not sure who might cause them to do so, Evans is knackered, Nibali is probably discouraged after yesterday and VDB is too far back on the GC

I was hoping Chris Anker Sorensen got in the break so I could lay him in play... he got in the initial break but it was so strong his odds drifted from 25/1 to 40+/1!! He's still doing OK now but wont win.
If Rolland, Kiserlovski and Kiryienka have 3mins at the foot of the climb they have a good chance... but Rolland has just crashed!

Why are Sky going to wind it up? They only need to keep Evans & Nibali from gaining any time, which they are doing. I can't see them being that bothered about the stage win.

was referring to d'Huez when Rolland won, everyone in the big boys group was ****ed after Andy's solo the day before and Cheatador's Giro legs.
Thoughts on the Rolland group succeeding now?

Backed Froome - 2nd Backed Pinot - 3rd Backed Wiggins top 3 - 6th Backed VDB - 5th Backed Schleck - nowhere Backed Cobo - nowhere Laid Rolland - won
managed to lay a few others at stupid short like Valverde and Kiserlovski but a horrible day of post hitting and a big loss for me. Worst loss of the tour so far.

How much time Wiggins would have lost had Froome gone is a matter of conjecture. Would he have made 2mins? 3mins even given Wiggins is the better time trialist? It's not an open and shut case.
Wiggo would have done the same as Cadel and paced himself to limit losses. He spent a good few minutes riding at the front when Froome was struggling and wasn't exactly going backwards.

Froome wasn't struggling ffs....seeing as 30 secs later he was at the front destroying the rest of the field and kicking clear of wiggo.
I agree that Froome could have got Rolland today.

yr getting completely carried away. guys are always making attacks off the front of a group and it looks v impressive but then they get picked up again a bit later. i expect froome wudda finished in the wiggo group

Agreed ...Nibali's attack looked really impressive and killed Wiggins .... ooooo look, they finished with same time. I suspect Froome's would have finished the same way

No way Froome would have won the stage. I suspect that he might not have been caught by Wiggins and Nibali though. Doubt he would have gained more than about 20 secs.

There was 4km to go at the point Froome accelerated. Did you all even watch the way he accelerated? It was a sharp acceleration where nobody was able to match, he would have run Rolland close.
People thinking Wiggins would have caught him He couldn't match him even after being paced up all the cat climbs yesterday by his team mates ffs
