Just 3 domestiques!!! Porte, Rogers and Froome - not bad!
By:
Sky sticking to their guns. They are expecting attacks and will just chug on after them as per the plan. The other teams will have to be a bit more creative I think.
By:
Yeah, good effort but just not quite there this year.
By:
Group was a lot bigger earlier, did not expect so many to get dropped...
Sky are pretty unbelievable! |
By:
Evans is wiley enough to limit his losses if he drops off the back. I wouldn't over-react laying him just yet. At least he had a go though, I shall retract my comment about him having the minerals.
By:
Wiggins is going to win the Tour by about 5 minutes.
By:
he'll finish 3.5 minutes up from froome. crash + time trial minutes :)
By:
Sky aren't unbelievable, just executing a very well-laid plan very very well, very similar to US Postal in Armstrong heyday (for Froome read Heras) but Armstrong would attack when his team had knackered his opponents, even though he would put more time in them in the ITTs, I doubt that Wiggins will. Having said that, it is very impressive, and once more demonstrates that Brailsford and team seems to be able to succeed at whatever they do when they have the resources.

wiggins 1.36 outright now! dropped 20 ticks since yesterday
By:
Lay Rolland and Kiserlovski for everything you've got. When Nibali attacks on the descent of the Mollard the gap will be gone and then when Sky roll up La Toussoire everyone will get dropped.
By:
1.26 even
By:
had a bit on wiggins at 1.38 when evans cracked, easy
By:
Agree, I've laid Rolland
By:
Keeping my Green on Rolland and Vasil K though the gap is not great.
Should be a good finish, should not be long till Nibali tries his luck. |
By:
Everyone wins on Betfair!
By:
Perfect for Sky, this breakaway incapable of working together. This is between Wiggins, Froome, Nibali & VDB
By:
why's rollands price shortening for the stage?
By:
i have no idea why Rolland is shortening, unless he has LOADS left I dont see how he can stay out. These guys cant stay out.
By:
because mugs pile in anyone thats over hyped and at the front (see laying valverde 4.5 with 140km to go)
By:
Nibali's going to attack on the descent here and Van den Broek's going to attack up La Toussoire, so Rolland is still a massive lay. Im maxed out, and if Rolland wins I'll need Wiggins top 3 to turn a profit.
By:
Roland was v.impressive last year when Contador caught him, but he wa able to ride away and still win. The gap has gone from 2 mins to 3 mins, of course Rolland is gonna shorten.
By:
Its a similar stage to Alpe d'Huez as well, plus his directeur sportif said he was going to drop everyone today. But he's done so much work and the bunch behind have to move. Nibali attacks on the descent, Sky will ramp it up on the final climb and VDB will attack from there. They need a lot more than they've got imo.
By:
Exactly, Skys easy pace has seen the chances of the leaders grow.
By:
vs very tired riders on a short climb?
By:
All depends on Nibali. If he goes on the downhill the Sky train clicks into another gear. If he doesn't then they would be well served taking it easy.
By:
Yes, difference between 2 minutes and 3 minutes could prove the difference.
Could not though... |
By:
Rolland is a serious climber, much harder to take 3 minutes from him than from the normal breakaway merchants, all depends on whether Sky need to chase and I'm not sure who might cause them to do so, Evans is knackered, Nibali is probably discouraged after yesterday and VDB is too far back on the GC
By:
Are they all going to just look at each other til the final climb? Nibali's a sh1thouse.
By:
im betting on rolland and greening out if he gets to evens, price could well drop sharply soon
By:
According to Twitter, Nibali hasn't recce'd this descent so probably won't attack

Rolland

unless he does that razz
By:
what the feck happened!! ****ing adverets.......
By:
He went on his bum.
By:
I was hoping Chris Anker Sorensen got in the break so I could lay him in play... he got in the initial break but it was so strong his odds drifted from 25/1 to 40+/1!! He's still doing OK now but wont win.
If Rolland, Kiserlovski and Kiryienka have 3mins at the foot of the climb they have a good chance... but Rolland has just crashed! |
By:
im in better shape bets wise after the fall tbh

By:
Short climb LL? La Toussuire is an 18k climb averaging 6.1%. I still think the peloton are favourites once Sky wind it up.
By:
Its 3 times as long as La Plance des Belles Filles, although at a shallower gradient.
By:
Why are Sky going to wind it up? They only need to keep Evans & Nibali from gaining any time, which they are doing. I can't see them being that bothered about the stage win.
By:
Exactly, no reson at all for Sky to wind it up as things stand
