Opens Saturday with a 8.7k prologue in Denmark. Taylor Phinney, Rasmussen and Geraint Thomas are favourites for the first stage, but I fancy Jack Bobridge to give a good account of himself and have taken 11/1 and 3/1 for a top 3 place with Sporting Bet.
for the outright, Scarponi must have a great chance, his team looks solid with loads of climbers. I've taken a bit of a chance on Mikel Nieve at 66/1, good climber and be good to see what he can leading Euskatel-Euskadi do in the absence of Sanchez.
Cunego and Scarponi would be evenly matched in the high mountains. It could develop into an intriguing tactical dilemma for the team.
Cunego looks to be a big price.

I'm not sure what to make of Cunego and Scarponi. There have been mixed messages all season about which of them was doing the Giro and which doing the Tour
At Trentino a few weeks ago Scarponi said he wanted to win the race. Cunego had looked like he was going to win AGR but somehow managed to crash on the final hill - he went to Italy to ride Trentino as preparation for LBL. I think the idea was for him to win a stage (which he did) and then help Scarponi. Didn't quite work out like that - Scarponi got beat 12 mins on each of the two big stages. Sick ? Taking it super easy ? Sulking ? That left Cunego digging deep to try salvage a GC win for Lampre which he couldn't quite manage and probably put paid to any chance he had in LBL. Scarponi on the other hand makes a miraculous recovery and finishes top 10 in LBL. His TT on saturday was pretty poor though
Overall I don't really like the preparation of either of them for this race. I can see Basso running away with it like two years ago

Hope Ferrari gets kicked off the race - that was reckless in the extreme. Renshaw got booted from the tour for far less.
Think Goss would still have won by the way, so very good call.

I'm not 100% sure that he needs it to keep up a decent tally of wins, although he missed out yesterday. The overall make-up of the squad is definitely geared towards Wiggins though.
Can't believe how short he (Wiggins) is for the TdF. Should he really be second favourite behind Evans?

He's shortest of them all, Evans is priced higher. Will be a big task for Wiggo!
Garmin pretty strong favourite for today's TTT. Any opinions on who's gonna' complete the top 3?

Think the market is about right today, having a fun bet on OPQS to place.
As for Wiggins` short odds for the tour.. easily explainanble. It`s the good old fashioned Brit Bias that used to send Tiger Tim off in single figures to win Wimbledon every year. I`m sure we can all think of other similar examples of Brit Sportspeople & teams @ stupidly low odds..

I've back Wiggo at 25-1 to win a few grand way back. Without doubt, he should be favorite on his best TdF form and his stage races this year. Cadel is having a poor year for him and he is well behind his form from last year (won Romandie last year).
Won't stop me laying a bit of my bet though!
Rodriguez for Stage 7 today ... made for him!

The race is nicely set up now. All the main contenders are in there. With an OK TT and a very good TTT by Katusha Rodriguez is looking good but on the longer 'diesel' climbs he's not so good. Pozzovivo was immense in Trentino but it's hard to see how he can keep his form from then until 3rd week. Basso, Rujano and Kreuziger haven't been seen at all so far which is always a good sign. I think John Gadret may come good in 3rd week too - he's done nothing this season but showed a bit yesterday.
