There must be a way to measure some sort of proper contact between athletes, thus ensuring that we get the right teams through. If we want haphazard results, who not have a few hidden potholes on the track, a couple of exploding shots or some poles with hidden cracks. No doubt this is all due to 'tradition' as athletics has barely changed anything in recent years to make itself more appealing, hence the half-empty stadium.
