Just a thought theses 2 great british sprinters who would your money be on?
Just the 2 of em on the road a flat straight mile .
Id go with Hoy instant blistering speed from nothing
Cav needs 100 miles in legs to warm up.
Pause Switch to Standard View Cavendish V Hoy who would win

As Hoy has set some of the fastest 1km times ever I'm not sure there would be anyone stupid enough to lay him at any odds, except maybe you.

Neither would finish such a complicated match.Sir Chris would set off like a bat out of hell and take the first left hand bend he came to leaving Cav in front with 1500yds still to go.Upon such a predicament Cav would have to sit up having never seeing the front so far out.

Over anything less than 1km, Hoy, esp with a standing start and without the lead-out train - Cav is great but only with a flying start and lots of cover until 200 yards to go.  If Cav could go fast by himself, he would do better in prologues (though he may just not be trying)

cav is good at sprinting, not at maintaining a high cruising speed for several miles (e.g. cancellara)

So what distance is the cut off point where the"sprinter" Cav outstays Hoy who obviously doesnt have the high end endurance?
5 /10? K

maybe a better question is who is the faster sprinter ?
Report geoff m July 28, 2010 3:45 PM BST
I think weve already resolved that biscar.
