Good morning Other Sporters. First, please accept my apology for posting this thread here but this looks a relatively quiet and friendly forum. As you may know, the football forum tends to be more inclined to chat rather than betting and having ignored requests for many years to spilt football into chat and betting, Betfair have done a disservice to those who don't want to be a part of the tedium that prevails. Hopefully just using a single thread to discuss football betting will not disturb regular contributors to this forum and obviously if the type of people that this is intended to avoid gravitate here then we'll shut it down and let the thread drop. Best of luck to all for the forthcoming season. :)

It'll be a shoot out, sint. Barca are not defending especially well and it might be because of the missing midfielders rather than the actual back four. Although they have had two holders from Yaya, Busquets and Keita they have still looked more vulnerable and it's probably simply because they are not tearing sides apart, hence the opponents remain in the game and not wondering how the hell to get a touch of the ball.

Arsenal need to get at the back four with pace.

I thought Liverpool were a tadge unlucky last night. Rafa's tactics are appaling but it was working until the ridiculous decision to send Babel off. Pablo Aimar was a little bit g-ay for that penalty claim, too.

Angel Di Maria looks a decent player in the making. I remember Wenger tried to sign him a couple of summers back but it fell through, probably finance. But he looks very classy to me.

You may have a point insofar as that voters who have moved to Brighton may have done so because of their sexuality and therefore may not be Brighton supporters. England vs USA.  This is a game that happens on Saturday evening chaps.  [;)]

I have been seeding this for a month or so now and here are my observations:

No sending off is starting to get too big at 1.31.  I am forced now to try to get laid at 4.1 on the other side but small as irrational punting means that the price could go shorter.

u/o 2.5:  Unders are too big at 1.9.

The other goals markets have been irrational and I will need to come back to that.

No hatrick at 1.03 looks like value but I am not having any of that. I cannot take the stress of 1.03 back bets any longer.

Substitutes used is a market I am new to.  6 the market seems to think and I need to do more research.  Prima facie 4-5 looks like value and a lay of 0-3 if you can get matched.

I still hate this forum sadly.

I have one in mind for the IC v Portugal game and will post up once the teams are in.

Re the England goalkeeping situation if James is fit then he has to start for me.  Capello can always say that James was first choice but for his injury so it's not a case of Green being dropped for his clanger but simply James being available again.  I know he divides opinion but he is a country mile in front of any other English 'keeper and it is sad that the occasional error from years gone by still seem to tarnish his reputation.  ALL keepers have made high profile errors at some time or another, including the ones the pundits and media who watch no football outside of the Premiership, Champions League and the Euros and World Cup fawn over (Casillas, Buffon etc etc) and let's face it, James has seen plenty more action standing behind the Pompey defence recently than most.

That said, if he isn't fit (and he says he is) then I'd pick Hart ahead of Green.  Not because of the mistake but simply because I think he is a better 'keeper.  I doubt whoever plays will have much to do on Friday evening anyway tbh.

This England game this afternoon, I do like England games to bet on.

Unders look too generous across the board.

Under 2.5 is odds on yet look at the hatrick odds, 1.06 for no hatrick!  It should be 1.02 or maybe 1.03 at a push  Silly and emotional punting, imo.

Sending off at 1.4 is just plain silly.  Expect a big hitter to arrive an hour before the game and bring sense to that market,  no sending off is bound to go shorter.

I expect a slow start so am gently backing the draw.  If the emotional punters come out in force than the price for the draw could go higher.

Just checking a few markets, I will see if I can find more.

No prizes for Originality here but think Brazil are the bankers of the 2nd round around 1.58. They beat Chile 3-0 (away) and 4-2 (home) in the Qualifiers and the Chileans had quite a tough game last night against Spain. Although both sides eased off around the 70 minute mark, the Chilean's dominated the first half for long periods and did plenty of running.  They also have three players Suspended for the next game.

Any ideas for these Quarter-finals ?

Brazil at Evens is tempting. I hope they let the Dutch have the ball, soak up the pressure, then pull their pants down on the counter-attack.

Ghana & Uruguay looks quite tight to me. I read on Sporting Life about 25 of the 40 winning matches so far have been Won by a single goal, and Uruguay are responsible for 3 of them, so the 11/4 for that margin seems reasonable. I do think they if Ghana put their minds to it they could cause an upset.

Argentina - German looks like a game of who has the best attack or slightly better defence, and in both cases the answer would be Argentina imo. 11/8 in 90 mins is also OK, I think.
