If you knock someone down, stagger the guy, then surely you should have the round , even if for 3 minutes the other guy doing better grappling

Gotta love Rogan, always very honest about blatantly ** judging.

Couture was better at wrestling/grappling , but at no point was Vera ever close to being submitted

While Vera looked close to getting a TKO a couple of times

tobs

first time i have really watched it,2nd round when vera kicked him in the guts i thought colture was gonna turn it in.
As said i dont know the rules/scoring but all colture seemed to do was push him to the fence

fight judged on these criteria...

Effective Striking, Grappling, Aggression, and Octagon Control

with those in mind you can see why Couture gets the decision but MMA judging is completely fooked imo.

that bloke who interviews the fighters afterwards, seemed to be alluding to that fact that the judging recently had been a bit 'ify'

10 point must doesn't work for 3 round fights.

mauricio 'shogun' rua clearly defeated lyoto 'the dragon' machida ... but probably the worst decision of any big fight in any combat sport i've ever seen was awarded to machida.

really scandalous.

By:

Yes they can score a round 10-10 but it's rare, you see VERY few draws in the UFC.

Do you enjoy spending your time typing utter sh1te? There have been so many worse than that in the last few years alone, it makes your comment a joke. I had the Rua/Dragon fight a draw, many had it a 1 round victory for Rua. The judges give it a 1 round win for Machida. Hardly a terrible and blatently obvious decision. MMA is a very young sport and it is to be expected that some problems like these occur. As the sport evolves, the judging will improve leaps and bounds. Plus at a lot of MMA events, it is boxing judges. They don't understand whats going on on the ground. They think if you are on top, even though you are more than likely in your opponents guard, you are doing great and they give you the round for it.

Check out all the judges decisions in boxing contests in Germany every few months. The Lewis/Holyfield I decision. The Manny Pac/JMM decision. The Mayweather/Castillo I decision. De La Hoya was in a couple vs Trinidad and Whitaker. I could go on and on. Have a look at the Tyson Fury/John McDermott boxing contest in September. McDermott really won the fight by about 4 rounds, yet Fury got the decision. There are millions of others I could allude to, but as that is so recent and in every combat sports fans mind as the one fight which shows how inept some judging is, I'll leave you with that one.

Mixed results for me
Backed Randy pts
Bisping main bet
Siver

Lost on
Wilks
Swick KO

Small profit on the event

I actually thought Randy won 2/3 rounds by controlling Vera, admittedly the only damage was done by Vera in the 2nd, pretty poor fight overall.

Lets Hope we get GSP V Hardy at the Nottingham Arena!!!!!

Thought Swick won 29-28. Thats how I scored it.

no idea how Hardy got two judges to score it 30-27. no way.

Well done though...big win and its GSP next.

disappointed the GSP chant only last for 5 seconds.....

As for Couture.

Love him...but he's got to be embarrased to have that as at win when he got his ARSE HANDED TO HIM.

total ownage by Vera...I actually scored it 30-26!!!! 26!!! thats right. I thought the first round was 10-8 to Vera.

never really bought into the whole brandon vera thing...but I like him now. fine performance. hope he picks himself up quickly.

Jeez elg i hope they dont ever let you anywhere neat the judjes scorecards! No way did swick win that, the 1st round was very hard to score and could have gone either way after that the last two were defo hardy rounds.

As for vera a 10-8 round seriously???? I had couture winning 29-28, Vera should have stopped him in the 2nd but Randy dominated the 1st and 3rd although it was a boring way to win a fight, thought Vera did very little but resist the takedown attempts very well

Okay I'm now watching the replays off MMAcore and I can see what you mean...especially about Mike Swick...got it wrong. makes me appreciate the problems the judges have.

Yeah it can be a very difficult job at times i would imagine some fights are very hard to score.

I think the scoring system needs a rethink for mma tho, the boxing way of 10-9 rounds just doesnt seem to work for mma because its not so straight foward, theres a lot to consider during a 5min round

i had hardy 30-27 and randy 29-28 aswell,Hardy picked him apart,no chance that could have gone any other way!

Not really sure how they gave Randy that decision. Vera did serious damage on several occasions, and actually got the only takedown of the fight...Randy wins for leaning on the cage.
