I was thinking about going to this and maybe getting to meet up with you lot but the card is looking abysmal so far :(

A previously announced Lightweight Championship bout between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez will not take place at this event according to Dana White

November 14th

Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang
James Wilks vs. Matt Brown
Dan Hardy vs. Kim Dong-hyun
Paul Kelly vs. Dennis Sive
DaMarques Johnson vs. Peter Sobotta
Andre Winner vs. Rolando Delgado

Ross Pearson injured? was on the card but taken off.

Hardy vs Stun Gun is a very decent bout imo....

shame about Penn-Sanchez.

I think this will be a good night of fights.

despite what Dana said, 102 looked on paper like a poor fight with only 2 fights with popular fighters and even they werent the most famous.

However every single fight was excellent.

I think this card is similar, the styles of each fighters will produce good fights.

I thought 102 was laden with great fighters!

When someone like Gonzaga doesn't even make the main event you know it has to be a good card!!

I might go but like you all say the card is average at best. If there's a decent headline fight (doubt it as there's 3 UFC cards in November) then i might change my mind. Have been to all to England events so far so would liek to continue my 100% appearance rate...one day someone might give me a medal.

Cant see who the headliner can be unless its anderson v someone or marquadt v hendo, pretty much every possible headliner is spoken for unless we get totally stitched up again

sorry if this is obvious - but would US fighters rather not come here? Do you think the big names have any influence on this?

I suppose there might be jet lag issues but if they arrive here a week before i dont think it would be an issue

The big problem is that its not a PPV event this time.

going to be live on Spike so they can only pay their fighters so much...dont think any of the top dogs would want to fight in a non ppv match.

Because no title will be on the line, the only thing that can save the card is a main event that will decide a number one contender for a belt..............

BJ is putting his lightweight belt on the line against Diego Sanchez, and the number one contenders match for the winner of that will be at 104 when Joe Stevenson takes on Spencer Fisher. The Penn/Sanchez fight is meant to be on in November, but it has been confirmed it won't be in Manchester, so that rules out 105. It won't be at 106 as the heavyweight title is on the line. Might it be TUF 10 finale? Or possibly 107. Either way, 105 will have nothing to do with the lightweight belt.

GSP is taking a bit of time off to recover from groin surgery he had after his injury at 100. So he won't be defending his belt before the years out. But the number one contender fight has already been mad and its coming up at the next event, 103, when Mike Swick takes on Martin Kampmann. So again, 105 will have nothing to do with the top welters.

On to the middles, and this is where the 105 main event must come from to save the card. You simply cannot seperate Nate and Hendo in deciding which of them deserve a second opportunity to have their a$$es spanked by Anderson Silva. Hendo has been inactive from 100 when he knocked out an average fighter who hardly tested him in just 3 minutes into the second round. 5 months should be long enough recovery time for Hendo. Nate would only have 2 months between fights, but then again he only had 21 seconds of action against Maia. The only problem is, 105 is only 2 months away and Dana/Joe Silva should have had something sorted by now. But they need to pull a rabbit out of the hat or else the 105 card will be the worst since the UFC became big time in the last few years. So 105 must be about sorting out the pecking order for the middles.

Lesnar futs his title of the mine vs Carwin at 106 and they don't really have a umber one contenders match sorted. Cro Cop takes on JDS at 103, but the winner of that would be undeserving comparing to Big Nog. Cain Velasquez takes on Ben Rothwell at 104 but beating Rothwell in itself wouldnt merit a shot at Lesnar (or Carwin). To be frank, I think Cain has been f-ucked over a bit because he was meant to take on Carwin at 104 in a number one contenders match and that got cancelled. However, in my own personel opinion, CV is better off taking his time anyway, and not rushing it the way they did with Gabriel Gonzaga. Mir takes on Kongo at 107. They'll just give Nog a title shot, have Cain beat one or two mentioned above, then have Cain vs the champion. Thus 105 won't have anything to do with the heavyweight crown.

^ Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooops!

Left out the best division there is ffs!!! The Lightheavyweights.

Lyoto puts his title on the line at 104 against Shogun. There are so many good fighters in this division there hardly needs to be title eliminators. Rampage vs Evans, the two belt wearers before the currant champ, fight at 107. Tito gets a nice reintroduction against a washed up Mark Coleman at 106. Anyway, Id be surprised if Tito is good enough these days to get to the top of the division. Yes he has done the best out of everyone against Machida so far, but that was a wee while ago now, and you'd have to think while The Dragon has only got better and better, THBBB has more than likely gone backwards, if not stayed still. Then you have the headline at 103 with ACE vs Vitor. In truth, Rich is a middle who will never beat Silva and Vitor is an enigma. Who knows where he'll end up. Forrest is recovering from pyschologically the worst beating of his life so who knows if he'll come back the same. Then Randy Couture might come back to 205lbs. Point is, 105 won't be about the top lightheavys.

couldn't tito vs coleman be a possibilty to be brought forward for the UK event?
By:

When: 02 Sep 09 22:52
No doubt it they both need plenty of time to train especially tito after a long lay off.

Totally agree with whats been posted above thats why it will be marquadt v hendo because the spider is now on vacation and nursing injuries (not sure how he got them as nobody ever hits him). They will just use this event to finally sort out who is the number 1 contender for his belt

only 1 week diff between 105 and 106 btw.

If they can't get a big fight then it shouldn't be a UFC proper but a 'Fight Night' otherwise it's slightly devaluing the whole promotion

Yeah you are right, and they proved it by having one of the best events in ages.

But what I meant by great fighters was really "famous" fighters. I havnt been into UFC for as long as most people (TUF where Shamrock and Ortiz were coaches was the first time i watched it)

and these fighters on 102 werent really popular apart from the 2 main events. I had only heard of a few of the others before.

Currently debating where to get my seats. Not overly impressed with the pricing structure.
£40 - nosebleeds
£65 - upper tier marginally better than £40
£80 - still upper tier just nearer to the front and more central, paid this at the 02 in london and got decent lower tier tickets
£100 - lower tier but near the back
£150 - same block but slightly further down
£250 - dana whites knee

I dont really want to sit in the upper tier but the card just doesnt seem worth shelling out for.
I mite just wait for general sale as these are pretty much all in the same block in either upper or lower tier so much for being a fight club member!
