The other trend is nonsensical attempts on 4th down.  Chargers second one today.

I've absolutely no problem with that call. Down by 18 pts - punting it away in that situation is just waving the white flag imo. Far too many old school coaches happy to punt until it's mathematically impossible to win

I have. It was only early in 3rd quarter.

To win the game they had to stop the Ravens at some point - give the defense a chance to get that stop. Not going to win otherwise. Besides lots of things negative happen on punts / punt returns.

Instead virtually guaranteeing to be 3 Tds down - and they were, and lucky not to be 25 points down.

Also see it all the time, not taking FGs and then not getting 4th down converted. Then later regretting not having those 3 points.

Analytics to blame - you cant factor in every variable. Definitely use analytics as an information source as an input to make a decision, not the actual decision itself.

If I'd bet heavily on the Ravens I'd have been delighted to see them punt. What I see more often is 4th and short punt, then next possession they're going for it on 4th and 10

By the way though, if in Ravens half then maybe - depend on yardage left, confidence in my o-line (chargers couldn't have been), FG range, play I liked  etc etc etc.

Season is starting to settle down now.

Burrow has to be one of the most improved QB in the league, dont get me wrong he was always going to improve, because he was a talent, but the lad is on fire.

Packers was a blip on GW 1, They have been methodical since if not spectacular..

Someone has finally Told the Chargers that they aren't anywhere near a super bowl team and also someone has told Lemar Jackson this season that his arm is meant for throwing rather then carrying the football.

The Chiefs aren't the football team of the last two season, Mahomes is going to have to carry them into the playoff's, I feel they wont make it and if they end up against the Buccs I just cant see them beating that defence!!   

The Giants, Jets and Lions are awful teams and I'm sure the vikings fans hope they might get some defenders in the next draft, because once again they entertain us all, but you would never go under in their games, because their defence is as hard to break as wet tissue paper.

Vikings Defence is weak compared to their offence - It cost them last season on so many occasions. I don't trust them, Allowed the Lions to have a chance last week. If their Defence could match their offence, they would make the playoffs.

The Cardinals have only beaten the Rams this season, their fixtures have been kind Imo.... I am a big fan of Kyler Murray, I think he is a genius

Cowboys to Cement their position as the only team in the NFC East of any note tonight. Dak to deliver this season on that mega contract. The other match Denver & Raiders, neither have a chance of winning the Super bowl

Seattle were lucky to get to overtime. Only Metcalf will know why, having caught the ball near the sideline inside the last 20 secs, he didn't step out of bounds giving them time for a shot or two to win it in normal time, and instead decided to take on a defender risking getting tackled in bounds with no timeouts left (or fumbling which happened). He's got an annoying habit of boneheaded plays. Even stranger was that it wasn't mentioned at all in commentary, as they were completely distracted by the refs (admittedly strange) decision to review

Letdown game for the Bills? Titans can be tricky and have all their weapons on the field tonight, +6 at home too good to pass up imo.

Been some fantastic games this year.

Has been another good game. Bills offence just doesn't stop and problems with injuries on the defensive side for the Titans, they've played well but I think I'll need some luck from here down 7.

Good call rhino! Titans starting to look a bit more of a unit finally, although so much of their offensive threat is basically Derrick Henry. Their defense was regularly bringing a load of pressure too though, and if it's not a one-off they could be dangerous come the end of the season, especially as their division is so weak this year.
