Pederson was correct to go, apparently fed-up of being told to do from all angles Owner (Jeffrey Lurie) and GM (Howie Rosman) both of whom forced co-ordinators on Pederson that didn't work out. Think Lurie/Rosman started meddling too much - bit drunk on the Superbowl win.
On the other hand the Eagles have no choice but try and make Wentz work out ie. get him "fixed". An MVP-type player to nearly worst in the league under Pederson. Not to mention the broken Pederson-Wentz relationship. If they trade him then they will have the largest amount of "dead money" in the history of the league - effectively tying their hands. So the unquestioned number one priority is - how to fix or who fixes Wentz - apparently the approach articulated by Pederson wasn't inspiring Lurie. Two meetings, both went badly.
Outcome inevitable, and the correct one even though Lurie admitted it "wasn't deserved".
Think Pederson is a good head coach in terms of man management, not sure about his play-calling abilities. Some of his analytics-based 4th down calls this year have had horrendous consequences, e.g. analytics say percentage-wise you should go for it (fair enough) - but you just cant ignore the gameday situation where your offensive line is imploding in front of you, and defense keeping you in it. Took too much on himself to dispel the view that Frank Reich was really the mastermind behind Superbowl win, which was unfair on him. Can't argue with his ability to get his team fighting over the years. He'll be an asset somewhere.
Problem is who can they attract ? - A sh1t salary cap situation - Questionable talent (the heroic old guard - Peters, Kelce, Ertz, Jeffrey, Jackson and others are on way out or fading away) - Meddling owner and GM (post Superbowl only) - Awkward QB situation (could argue it may could turn out to be one of best in the league if Wentz fixed) - Unforgiving market and fanbase
Can't see a strong experienced head-coach who runs his own show wanting to go there. Rumours are another KCC co-ordinator from the Andy Reid tree with the Philly connections (like Reid) is the way they are going ie. "Pederson Mark II". The Chiefs - Eagles coaching staffs are so inter-connected. It was KCC (and long-time Eagles) coach Andy Reid who recommended Pederson to Lurie.
Anyway - he'll be regarded well for 3 good years, and 1 fantastic one. Fly Eagles Fly
