I don't think the Ravens were the best team over the entire season when they won the Superbowl recently but that's the game - they won when it mattered. I thought the 49ers were the best team for two seasons when the Ravens and Seahawks won the Superbowl but that's sport - tough times. They didn't win when it mattered.

Swagger when the Ravens beat the 49ers the holding on the kickoff return for the TD was scandalous.
Best team doesn't always win. I fancied Carolina to win but the injuries put me off going near them. Kawann Short DT Questionable Knee Short has a knee injury and is questionable to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos. Ryan Kalil C Questionable Knee Kalil has a knee injury and is questionable to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos. Fozzy Whittaker RB Questionable Ankle Whittaker is questionable to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos due to an ankle injury. Charles Johnson DE Questionable Knee Johnson is questionable to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos due to a knee injury. Roman Harper S Questionable Eye Harper left the last game due to an eye injury and is questionable to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos. Mike Tolbert FB Probable Knee Tolbert is expected to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos despite a knee injury. Thomas Davis LB Probable Arm Davis had surgery to repair a broken arm he suffered during the last game but is expected to suit up against the Broncos in the Super Bowl. Robert McClain CB Probable Ankle McClain is expected to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos despite an ankle injury. Dwan Edwards DE Probable Personal Edwards is expected to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos despite dealing with a non injury-related issue. Corey Brown WR Probable Ankle Brown has an ankle injury but is expected to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos. Jared Allen DE Probable Foot Allen missed the last two games due to a broken bone in his foot but is likely to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos. Jonathan Stewart RB Probable Ankle Stewart is expected to play in the Super Bowl against the Broncos despite an ankle injury. |

Why the american comm team never go back to awful decisions to question them - the early catch that wasn't given? They just ignored it, but it totally altered the game, as they conceded straight after that.
Ah, just bin this stuff for good. Need sleep after that. |

Roger - I thought the 49ers got shafted against the Seahawks the following season as well there were some dubious calls - I remember a blatant roughing the passer foul not called against the Seahawks which completely changed the game but the Seahawks defense were excellent so you kind of accept it. I do agree that the best team doesn't always win but the Denver defense were amazing that had they lost it would have been brutal on those guys whereas I felt on the day Carolina were average all over the field all night.
That is a long list of injuries. Broncos had questionable injuries to their safeties but they seemed to get through the game just fine. |

No difference to the game, lol - it was the game. Denver couldn't score in a brothel without being handed those chances from the officials.
|
|
By:
course it wasn't close, they were given every chance
|
|

That 49ers team were so unlucky not to win a SB during the Patrick Willis years.
The coaching needed to be tighter with Kaepernick throwing less. Denver were the best team on the night, but they need to change that catch rule, it's ruining the game. |

What zebra decisions are people not happy with? The Cotchery no catch was rubbish but not sure whether it was a rubbish call or a rubbish rule. I was watching with a few that were there for the occasion and not for the love of the game who were dumbfounded by that. When is a catch not a catch? In the NFL I told em... Surely rule of the schoolyard needs to apply, it ain't that complicated - if it looks and smells like a catch, it's a catch. Catches over ruled by the tiniest of bobbles without ever touching the ground do my head in.
Otherwise, don't think the refs played a massive part, better team won, as painful as that is. |

Cam copping plenty of flack on Twitter for not jumping on his fumble. Missed that live, pretty poor looking at the footage. Gotta risk death for the ball in the 4th quarter of the SB...
|
|
By:
I said earlier in the thread that he has to dive on that ball but for some reason he didn't. He didn't look happy all night and the Broncos defence definitely unnerved him. Watching him walking back to the locker room at half time I thought he was moving very awkwardly and at certain times during the game I noticed him grab his left shoulder.
Will he come back stronger for last nights experience? I'm not 100% sure. |
|
By:
Yeah he got hit early and looked nervous. Not helped by his receivers and he didn't throw well either.
I am not a fan of cattenacci but Broncos were stout. You have to hand it to them and Panthers did! Dull match for once I agree with the Donald. I thought both sides were After You Clauding it. Neither looked like they wanted it. The hinge of the game for me was the catch no catch. I don't know the rule but it looked pretty good to me first up and on slow mo. Could have been given, could have been given on review, maybe the right decision was called but that was the key point in the game. If it went Panthers we could be hailing a new Star Quarterback. He may have the physical tools but he lacked the nous, bottle and luck 3 things that Manning has in Spades moreso that he ( Manning ) can't even throw a football. Well done to him too, genuinely nice if boring guy. Hope he wasn't a drug taker. I have lost twice in a row on Denver and was lucky I didn't a third time. A non loss is almost as a good as a win and I would have lost loads but Carolina did not turn up and I was lucky my money was not down by the time I realised it! |

I personally dont think the best team won but the better Defence certainly did. Denver Defence won the turnover battle producing 2 key plays on Newton. Both offences were pretty inept. Newton was strangely out of sync with his receivers, Olsen was a non-factor and Denvers offence coverted on 3rd down once all night!!! To be fair to Carolinas Defence they kept them in the game as much as they could but that was possibly one of the worst games i have sat through in terms of excitement and big plays.

D'fences win SuperBowls!!!!!! Old adage still holds true.

By:
We were spoiled in the playoffs, some real unbelievable finishes in past month, so can't complain too much that the SB was a tad flat. That defence must go down with some of the best ever, they won that singlehanded.!!!
|
|
By:
i felt carolina were very one dimensional, with cam off synch, they needed a few quick screens and play actions to make the denver D sit back a bit, carolinas pass blocking didnt hold up so the best team won on the night.
i felt beforehand that 28 pts would win the game, but thought that carolina would be capable of getting them, but props to the denver D for bossing it from start to finish |

bankit, I thought for a minute you were saying I was a knob
![]() Like you, I bet Panthers, but best team on night won. Like you, I admit I got it wrong big time. No point blaming Cam. Receivers dropped a few important catches but in fairness, the drops were caused by great defense. |

Best defence won and well deserved..
I lost loads but I felt dissapointed by the lack of variety from carolina`s offence once it emerged plan A wasnt working... Was there a touch of complacency from the offence? I think yes and there seemed to be a mindset of just turning up to win.. As a visual spectacle it was the most boring show ive ever watched and the whole occasion seemed flat tho the actual game could have lifted that feeling but sadly it was as poor as every other aspect of the evening. Lets hope next year reinstalls my faith. |
