Just a quickie for Turkey Day, everyone's favourite Thursday of the year
3 matches so pick a spread winner and a points total from all 3 games and whoever gets the most right wins the admiration and respect of the forum for the remainder of the month of November!
packers +6, under 49.5pts cowgirls -9.5, under 46.5pts raybans -3.0, over 40.5pts
i could do it again in 5 minutes and go the other way on all of em though. theyre all tricky mcsticky. most confident would be the raybans -3 i spose. but even that i wouldnt bet on.

Couldn't stay up for the late game last night - getting too old now
Anyway here's the final standings after the 3 games, which were quite close as sideshowbob said above. Thanks to all who entered and well done to themightmac and Wallflower who got 5 of the 6 correct

Exhibit 1 ..... this little competition, a good exercise, does anyone like me think this helps prove spread betting is a toss of a coin.......I don't understand why people back spreads straight. There may be some merit if you genuinely fancy the underdog and get the points, but then your losing the odds against value, so there is no real gain - well, not from what I can see.
....Exhibit 2 - Clay's Forum Appreciation thread, he's winning this week but in terms of profit/loss he around the -2% to 2% range.......a lot of his bets, guessing 60% or so are with the spread. Its about level, as you might expect tossing a coin.
Am I missing something in terms of potential value?
(Please note if you were part of this competition you can disagree with me but must be respectful and full of admiration until Sunday)
Thanks db1974, gave a bit of added interest.Exhibit 1 ..... this little competition, a good exercise, does anyone like me think this helps prove spread betting is a toss of a coin.......I don't understand why people back spreads straight. There may b
i usually go with the short price over/under, around 1.35ish. or the favourite getting points. or the straight win. my 2 bets yesterday were 500 quid on dallas to win at about 1.25 and 500 quid on baltimore 3.5 at about 1.4.
i didnt actually watch either game cos i was shattered and went to bed at 8pm after the detroit game which i didnt bet on. watched them both at about 6am this morning in speed through on the gamepass. a good job too, cos i may have been tempted to take a huge red on the dallas bet at halftime!
i very rarely bet on either normal spread.i usually go with the short price over/under, around 1.35ish. or the favourite getting points. or the straight win. my 2 bets yesterday were 500 quid on dallas to win at about 1.25 and 500 quid on baltimore 3
well i did have a grand on detroit at about 1.07 i think. but im not counting that cos its not something i do very often. defo is the quickest way to the poorhouse doing stuff like that. but i just couldnt see how green bay were gonna score if they played til next thanksgiving. and i was feeling dangerous.

Well done Wallflower, your 50% of the first prize, (What is 50% of Nothing?)is in the post. And well done db1974 for setting up the competition which was fun.
A very profitable night all round

We all have our own betting methods, but imo, betting on the NFL would be as boring as **** without the Handicap betting. If one has faith in one`s own Handicapping methods, then one can make some serious money. Moneyline is ok if the odds are value, but betting on 1.07 shots is the quickest way to the poor house.
I`m not knocking anyone, each of us to their own, but putting a Grand on to win £70 is not for me.
