I'm not saying Arizona will win but I think this will be a close one. Anyone betting the Dirty Birds to cover a 6pt spread on the road wants their head examined. They may do it but you would be in the grubber if u were betting them on the road in the past to cover the spread.
Also this is a place where they have struggled. They have lost 8 out of their last 10 visits here. They lost here last season.
PLus the Cardinals are getting all their players back week by week and are getting better. They have won their two home games, against the Lions and the Panthers, played really well for three quarters at San Francisco at the weekend.
I like their defense a lot. Yes Palmer is a pick machine on offense but he is also capable on his day and Larry Fitzgerald is a class act.
The Dirty Birds wee not that impressive at the weekend and they don't have their injuries to seek. It's certainly weakened them at Linebacker and on the defense line. They will try and stop the run and force Palmer to beat them through the air.
I can see this being a brutal game. But I'm not having the Dirty Birds as 6pt favs and there are plenty reasons for thinking the Cardinals will cover this, and some.

Some smashmouth football, nice Happy

Be careful. Palmer likes to give the ball away and the Seahawks like taking it away!

Seattle has a decent pass rush and the prospect of Palmer, behind that O line, throwing against that secondary, trying to find a gimpy Fitz, is troubling. I really like Andre Ellington, but he'll find it tough tonight, forcing Palmer downfield.

The Cards do have a decent D and the short week plays well for the home team, but Lynch and Wilson can keep the chains moving. If Calais Campbell is out, that will hurt the Cardinals.

Palmer will throw at least two picks giving the Seahawks a short field, and Wilson can get it done - they look a TD better. Maybe a little Unders?

Bonne chance Happy

Incorrect. Seattle are 11-7 ATS on the road since 2011.

"Also this is a place where they have struggled. They have lost 8 out of their last 10 visits here. They lost here last season"

They lost narrowly due to a crucial dropped pass.  This was also week 1 and debut for Wilson.  Theyplayed again 3 months later and Seattle won 58-0

"PLus the Cardinals are getting all their players back week by week and are getting better."

Seattle have Miller and Clements back this week.

"They will try and stop the run and force Palmer to beat them through the air."

Cards have no running game and the 'pick machine' Palmer will find it tough against the best secondary in the league.

"I can see this being a brutal game. But I'm not having the Dirty Birds as 6pt favs and there are plenty reasons for thinking the Cardinals will cover this, and some."

I agree it will be a brutal game and the fact is it a divisional game means it shouldn't be a blowout, but I think Seattle cover tonight.  GL

CLay.  WTF.  The Seahawks and the 49ers are somehow known as the dirty birds ?  Never heard it.  Maybe once somewhere someone referred to the Seahawks as the dirty birds, but it is generally accepted, hell, universally accepted the TDB is the moniker of the Falcons, and only the Falcons.

I recall a match between arizona and seattle either last season or the year before, in arizona, they kept shutting out the seahawks inside the 5 time and time again, cards made a habit of doing that.
Report db1974 October 17, 2013 10:40 PM BST
That was Week 1 last year Harry. Seahawks had 7 consec plays in the Redzone (incl 1st-&-Goal from the 6) and couldn't finish it. They're a bit better now though.

The Seahawks have shown that their road woes are not going to bother this side and I think they win well tonight, double figures anyway. Palmer isn't good enough to keep the Cards in it IMO.
Report Still standing October 17, 2013 10:51 PM BST
If ever there was a case to not now, or ever, bet the point spread, this game is the poster boy.  Too many ifs and I don't knows.  How will the Cardinal O line hold up ?  When Seattle blitzes, can Palmer hit the outside 1 on 1.  His money in the bank ( Fitzgerald) will be covered like a blanket by an all star, just waiting for the INT, probably baiting with some loose coverage.  What will Seattle do when their run game is stiffed ?  How is Wilson when he has to throw, and the Cards will know it.

All games come down to a couple of key matchups.  Larry will effectively be taken out of the game.  Seattle will apply heat to Palmer, which he has shown for years he continually makes bad split second decisions.  If Arizona shuts down the run, Seattle will find a way to let Wilson run loose and find  gaps behind the line.

It looks like it might be a 6+ win for Seattle to me, but I only bet the spread if I like the dog to win outright.  I took the 1.46 ML on Seattle, it's 1.47 now.  The guy who hates the dirty birds will give the 6 points, for you point spread betters, take the hint.  Swardean did an excellent job of countering all his points why Arizona is a bet.

Anyone who bets the spread and wins, hats off to you.  I can't do it.

I guess their wisdom is, its Carson Palmer we can't lose, which is fair enough but a proper qb might make them pay. Seattle are for real though and I believe the superbowl is between themselves and Broncos this year. Hawks mightn't have the recievers that Denver have but their Defense makes up for that, their secondary in particular. I'd have Lynch ahead of Moreno at RB,(only just mind you). Special teams probably much of a muchness so Wilson v Peyton? hmmm...

Om 2nd thoughts, Seattle were blessed tonight.

Lets break things down.

Extremely lucky pick when Fitz burnt Browner(who got away with PI) and the ball bounces into Thomas' lap.

3 seattle fumbles, one in the redzone, two inside their own 20 and the cards only recover one.

The field goal shenanigans just before HT when the clock should have expired.

The Russell Wilson throw on 3rd down when this rule applied: Officials are to blow the play dead as soon as the quarterback is clearly in the grasp and control of any tackler, and his safety is in jeopardy.

Browner clearly pulled the jersey on his pick should have been a holding call

Most blatant facemask of the century unbelievably NOT called

Who is better than them then? No team in the East or North is better than them. We'll find out in Week 13 if the Saints are better and they are already 2-0 in the division with the weakest of the 4 teams left to play

Green Bay match up very well against the Hawks. As was proved when they beat them in Seattle last year but the replacement refs seemed to be only ones who thought it was a Hawk TD and awarded them a win.
Green Bay strong against run. Got a strong running game now. Receivers (when fit) able to deal with their secondary) and a QB who is as good on the run as he is in the pocket
Report Swagger October 18, 2013 11:52 AM BST
I agree with Mr M and Clay. The Seahawks have to play away from home and get the job done to win the Superbowl, i just see them falling short away from home. For example in last season's play offs Washington had them on toast before RG3 had to play on one leg, people seem to forget that.

Assuming they are relatively healthy, I would fancy Green Bay to take the Seahawks home or away in the play offs. But then i fancy the Pats to take Denver should they meet in the divisional game in the AFC Confused
Report db1974 October 18, 2013 12:19 PM BST
The Seahawks will be next to impossible to beat in Seattle if they get the No.1 seed. They are currently on an 11-game winning streak at home and if they beat the Saints at home in Week 13 then they can probably afford to lose to the 49ers the week after and still get the No.1 seed.

On the road is a different story however although they have showed this season already that they are a lot better on the road than they traditionally have been

At the moment they are the NFC team to beat IMO
Report d13phe October 18, 2013 12:29 PM BST

they have a very easy schedule when you look at it.

The only team that can beat them i think in the NFC are the Packers if they are fit and healthy.
